Old rig Boot help

Hey guys I get a 0x0000007B BSOD error in my old rig which i'm tryimg to hook up for my dad, Its some boot error, i've tried flashing the bios by using a win 98 flash disk ,the rig is a K8MM-V (MS-7142) .

This happens when I try to install windows, otherwise it goes into bios just fine but it sez, disk error cant read from source.
The hardrive is okay though, I know that coz I tried several hardrives

whats your take? What should I do?

It sounds like you are trying to install XP on a SATA drive.

If that's the case you need to load the SATA drivers from a floppy disk during the install. That happens very early in the install when you see the message "Press F6 if you have to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver." at the bottom of the screen.

Its an old rig so yes it does use IDE i've set it up for IDE not SATA.

It should be ok. I'm starting to think this is the problem:

A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is corrupted.

The bios have been long acting funny like: i'td detect the hardrive but say "disk error cant read from source" then after I reboot it would go into windows perfectly.

I ignored the problem(great idea) and let my cuz use it that way. I just thought the bios needed flashing because they were corrupt , now I cant even do that so i'm stumped

try a new ide cable..... you said you tried several drives, that's a lot of plugging and un-plugging.
