The newer RoHs spec solders do melt at lower temps and they are the solders that get these microfissures as far as I can tell. It didn't seem to be an issue before 2005-2006.
What I was saying to steve about those P4 boards is it sounds like an actual broken solder joint at the socket..... not sure an oven baking can fix that.
