Monitor Capabilities

I currently have a PS3 and PC hooked up to an LCD TV and I was considering getting a higher resolution.
Quite a few of the decent spec monitors come with HDMI ports and I was wondering if anyone knew if a PS3 would work properly through a monitor's HDMI port. I don't use any other aspect of my TV so I have no problem with a lack of speakers, aerial, scart, etc.

Re: Monitor Capabilities

Most monitors that have HDMI IN, should support a PS3 no problem, although many of them might not go up to 1080p. If the monitor has HDMI connections and resolution of 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 or of course higher, then I don't see why it wouldn't work. If you are going to buy a new one, make sure the HDMI it has is of 1.3 revision or higher. No point in going for anything lower.

Re: Monitor Capabilities

I thought you could but I wanted to make sure, rather than forking out for a new monitor then finding out I couldn't use it.

According to specs:
Full HD 1080pAspect Ratio - 16:9
Resolution - 1920 x 1080
Brightness- 300 cd/m2
Digital Fine Contrast Ratio- 50,000:1
Response Time (GTG) - 2ms
Viewing Angle - 170°/160°
Surface Treatment- 3H, Anti-Glare

Doesn't mention HDMI revision though, even on the manufacturer's website.

Re: Monitor Capabilities

I don't know the monitor, but it should in theory work just fine.
The only problem that I read is about the stand that is fixed and horrible and the monitor does not give you the option to install it on a vesa mount. I don't know how important that would be for you.

Re: Monitor Capabilities

I'm content with fixed stands, as long as it tilts (which, I believe, is a health & safety requirement for monitors anyway).
Looks like I'll be rooting for a new monitor before long.

Re: Monitor Capabilities

Are you sure it tilts?

If I was in the market for a new monitor, I would go after a Samsung one. I like them.
