replace creative SB live! value card

i would like to purchase a sound card that supports win vista and win7 and allows me to use a set of speakers that i like every much. here is a picture of my speakers. i have been looking around and Newegg. it gets a bit confusing with all different type of plugs of SPDIF. any suggestion for a budget sound card would be appreciated, preferably not from Creative. thanks in advance.

You may consider the Asus Xonar DX (it is a PCIe card, look for D1 if you want PCI version). The sound quality should be better compared to similar Creative cards and games run flawlessly with it as far as I can tell (Win7 x64).

I am sorry but what model is your speakers?
In theory any set of computer speakers would work just fine with any modern onboard sound solution.

The make & model of both your speakers and your motherboard would be handy. Personally, I use my on-board soundcard connected to my speakers using Coax (PS3 is taking up the Optical). It depends on how much sound quality you like really; if you're and audiophile or you can hear a distinctive difference between output modes then an on-board soundcard should work fine, as BlueMak said.
