XP reboot loop

Hello folks, I'm new here and like what I see.
The problem I've been seeing lately is a rash of PC's stuck in a reboot loop after automatic windows update. These are running XP home SP3. The error code is something about the boot.ini missing or corrupt. Is this a update issue or a virus of some type? Not being the best at computers, I'm haveing problems here. After discussing this with other people I know across the country, it seems to be fairly rampant. Is there a fix? Any input will be much appreciated. Have a great day

Re: XP reboot loop

Welcome to the forum,

First, try to restore the system to a point before the update and turn off "automatic updates". You will have to do this from safe mode. (F8 at startup)

Then you can try each update, one at a time to find out which is the bad update causing the problem. Until the problem is resolved at MS you will have to check for updates manually, if you re apply "automatic updates" it's just going to install the problem again.
