CoolerMaster V10
Does anyone use this cooler?
I'm considering it for my next build, and I would rather avoid liquid cooling. |

Re: CoolerMaster V10
Are you totally opposed to the H50 from Corsair? It's self sealed, I don't like the V10, it covered ram slots on my board, and that wouldn't do as mine have heat pipes..

Re: CoolerMaster V10
Hum.. Self contained ones that don't have many leak reports might be an option.
![]() Other air coolers I was considering are Xigmatek s1283 and Noctua NH-U12P. Last edited by iPlayer; Jan 22, 2010 at 01:21 AM. |

Re: CoolerMaster V10
Go w/ either the Prolimatech Megahalem/Mega Shadow or the Noctua DH-U14. Either are much better coolers and they don't require 75w of power to keep the TEC going. And this is coming from someone who used a V10 for many months.

Those 2 sounds great, not a fan of megahelm as lotsa people like it however it's huge, so make sure your case has clearance for it.

Re: CoolerMaster V10
I've stuck with the thermalright ultra 120 extreme heatsinks since my A64 builds and they have never let me down. I don't recommend the V10 going by the reviews..

Re: CoolerMaster V10
Reading different PC fora, I just notice that V10 owners tend to ditch their cooler after a few months...

Re: CoolerMaster V10
Honestly speaking..
After using the V10 for many months, and having rebuilt with another cooler, i can honestly say the v10 was an excellent cooler, the results i got were great compared to some of the other coolers i've had since on the same board, surfice it to say, while the initial concept that the memory slots were covered, you could still add and remove ram relatively easily provide you took the care and patients required to do so (pull up, tilt out sides and pull out the side), the only problem is if the memory is designed larger then the standard (i was using OCZ memory with heat spreaders which provided no issue) However it's only a REAL pain IF your frequently yanking out and putting in memory, aside from that no big deal. I have see some people with much much larger cases with room to spare where the v10 has been mounted "differently".

Re: CoolerMaster V10
There is a DH review here you might check as well.

Re: CoolerMaster V10
I read many reviews on it, and it performed exceptionally well in those, except for the high power consumption it has. Problem is reviews don't show how durable they are.
This has me worried. Last edited by iPlayer; Jan 22, 2010 at 04:33 PM. |

Re: CoolerMaster V10
It's not that it doesn't perform good, it just seems to be a big pain in the ass. Also Price? the H50 is only 79.99

You have to take the motherboard out of the case, and have direct access to the back and front of the motherboard at the same time to do it properly.. you can't mount (i should say it's possible but not adviseable) to mount the sucker while the motherboard is in the case provided the case allows a large amount of access to the back of the motherboard. The Heatsink is a stellar heatsink, i didn't notice any high draw on power.... the only downfall i had with my coolermaster v10 was the fans seized up completely solid, at which point the TEC must have kicked in which then raised the draw a little, however with with all the fans completely solid, my temperatures raised a meaningless 3-5*C at best even under load and overclocked.

Both of those are fantastic coolers, but very large.
