Re: What would you buy?
Right, I tried to mount it on the bottom on one of the 180mm but it didn't work out. The Raven supplied radiator brackets for the bottom fan but it didn't line up with the H50 and the H50 used a different screw size. So I may go that route again if I can get some screws or try the trusty zip tie method. Either way I'm hoping cooling the radiator with the only exhaust fan location in the case works out ok in a push/pull set up with the Silverstone and Corsair fan provided.

Re: What would you buy?
I have verified that the monitor originally doesn't came with a DVI-DVI cable from the manufacture .
Look at the pic "from the Monitor CD guide". Damn you Samsung ! Sorry to hijack your thread , Desire . |

Re: What would you buy?
nice looking motherboard. i like the H50... i would def get that if i were to replace my cpu cooler and i like the layout of that case. fans blowing cool air from the bottom out the top, vertical hanging cards. nice setup, let us know how it performs cooling wise over time

Re: What would you buy?
When I bought my first LCD two years ago (a Viewsonic VG1930wm), it also came with just a VGA cable, even though the LCD had a DVI port.

Re: What would you buy?
So I'm having difficulty getting Win 7 Ultimate x64 to install. When I try to do the clean install it tells me my key is invalid and that it is for the Upgrade. However, I know this is crap because I had used it for a clean install on my previous rig.
Now I have another problem. I decided that I would install Vista Ultimate x64 instead and do an upgrade from that. However, midway through the install it blue screened on me. I'm thinking its my RAM. I'll give it a retry when I get home tonight. Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Re: What would you buy?
there is a trick to install Win7 upgrade disc as a clean install but I don't remember.
For the blue screen try: 1.remove all ram sticks and the motherboard battery. 2.wait a few minutes and install the ram again and tey to install the windows 3. If you still get the blue screen , install the dimms in different slots. If all didn't work , we'll have to figure another solutions then. |

Re: What would you buy?
download memtest86+ v4.00 and see if you get any errors in the first pass.

Re: What would you buy?
I'll give the trusty memtest a try after work. I'm still not sure what I'm gonna do bout my Windows 7 disc. I have activated it once before on my wife's computer but I figured I'd be able to use at least twice. Microsoft is really cracking down.

Re: What would you buy?
There are a couple of things that you can do to get 7 to do a clean install from an upgrade disk.
In my case, I did a clean install from an upgrade disk (Win 7 Pro x64), but on a friends system, Win7 Prem x64, wouldn't activate until I did the 'registry tweak' you can find here: http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/cle...rade_media.asp Now I'm assuming, that you are putting this on just ONE system, and not trying to use the same activation key on two different systems?

If all else fails with Win7, I'll go back to my Vista 64-bit. I have another copy of Win 7 32-bit but I'd hate to not use all my RAM. Plus I will be even more limited due to my 1gb of VRAM.

Re: What would you buy?
Try installing with just one RAM. If successful, then add the other sticks...

Re: What would you buy?
Got windows 7 installed and activated no problem, with one ram. Began to install drivers and now I am getting blue screens right after the 'Starting Windows' appears. The memory checked out okay with memtest but I'm still not certain if its just having incompatibility issues. I'm gettin a little frustrated, lol.

Re: What would you buy?

Re: What would you buy?
So I swapped my RAM with a buddy's Mushkin RAM at the same speed and timings and it BSOD at the same point as before. I then went into the BIOS and bumped up my CPU multi so the CPU is at 3.6 instead of 3.4 and now its running rock solid! I'm stumped. Someone help explain? Anyone?

Re: What would you buy?
Well that lasted about 30 minutes and got another BSOD. I switched back to my corsair RAM and I am still able to get into Windows. I fooled around with it for a little while and didn't get a BSOD but it was getting late so I'll try again tonight after work.
The BIOS has all the voltages greyed out and set on "Auto" so it won't let me set it to 1.5v (the recommended voltage for both the mobo and the RAM) I think I might try updating the BIOS from 1.7 to 1.9. Then I'm gonna try MSi's tech support.

Re: What would you buy?
So I believe I have to use the"+" and "-" keys to change the voltage values. Who would have thought? Hopefully after dialing in the voltage and timings everything will work.

Re: What would you buy?
Everything seems to be up and working. I suppose the voltages were it. I can live a happy life again.

Re: What would you buy?
So you think the problem was that the RAM wasn't running at the right voltage?

Re: What would you buy?
Thanks guys. Yeah it seems to be running pretty smooth now. Although I do notice some judders in Windows when the screen fades during startup and shut down. Driver related? Tried uninstall and guru3d driver sweeper and reinstall but no change.
