LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
Bought this today, installed it, no dramas.
It won't play a blu-ray movie. I get errors such as: There is a disc with an unsupported format in drive F: and The disc was created in a manner such that the Player does not support.

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
What OS are you running?
Have you tried updating the firmware for the drive (although if you just bought it new you shouldn't need to)? |

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
windows 7 64bit
The CD it came with said it had a FW update on it, and I ticked it so I'm assuming it installed properly. There could be a newer one, but when I search 'BH10' on the LG website it comes up with nothing...no support there. thanks for the quick reply bro

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
How many BDs have you got? If you have just the one BD to test it may need a clean. Or maybe the lens of the player needs a clean, or maybe a cable is loose somewhere or perhaps the drive is just faulty! It should be a simple plug n play device on your OS.
I am using Win7 64 with my old LiteOn Bluray and have never had a problem - touches wood! |

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
I only have 1, but I do have 2 other virtual drives... would they affect it?
It seems to be able to read the blu ray (I am ripping it to my computer as we speak) but I can't just insert a disc and have it play it

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
Update on the ripping: I ripped onto my computer as the folder structure. After opening this folder with VLC media player, 2 videos played: one looked like a behind the scenes and the other was a segment of the actual movie. (the behind the scenes video opened in a 2nd VLC window). When I closed the 2nd window however, the actual segment of the movie closed too.
heres a screenshot of what i mean ![]() At least I know it can read discs now... just how to play them properly?

Is your display HDCP compatible? I assume your GFX card is because it's quite recent.

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
I would say my graphics card is, and I checked, both my monitors (LG L226WTP and LG L226W) are HDCP compatible

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
Are you only using VLC to try to play discs? Have you loaded PowerDVD that came w/ the drive? I just bought one of these myself installed it but never even touched the disk. Matter of fact I gave it away w/ my old LG burner. Are you also ripping the discs w/o breaking the encryption?

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
Yes, I tried PowerDVD, wmp and VLC. They all had an error like I described in the OP...
I am using DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip them... I'm not sure if they breaks the encryption.

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
I used AnyDVD HD to get rid of the protection when I didn't have a HDCP graphics card.
I just recieved a Bluray in the post, when I put it into the drive, right clicked and pressed play. Win7 attempted to play it in WMP and I got the same message as you. 'The disc was created in a manner such that the Player does not support.' Played fine in PowerDVD Ultra 10. Last edited by Jac; Jul 8, 2010 at 12:59 PM. |

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
To me it sounds like some type of HDCP handshaking issue. I know Cyberlink has some advisor software that will tell if there is an issue. Honestly I always use Anydvd HD in the background myself.

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
So do you think PowerDVD 10 will work? The drive came with version 8...you would expect it to work out of the box.......
Anyway, I'll try it out with PowerDVD 10. EDIT: PowerDVD 10 works fine. Beats me why they supply it with software that doesnt even work.

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
They always supply a depreciated version of the player with drives but Bluray standards are forever changing. When I first got my drive a couple of years ago I found I was having to update something nearly every time I got another movie. Player software, drivers, firmware etc - it's settled down a lot since then

Re: LG BH10 Blu-Ray Player. problems.
I prefer Arcsoft's TotalMedia Theatre 3 Platinum, mainly for the continued support of HD DVD.
