A good Wifi Adapter ?
I am looking for a long range wifi adapter "yes , the neighbour has shut down his wirless network" Looking for multiple choices if possible as some hardware pices aren't sold here. Also , is it better to get a PCI or USB. I prefer USB myself but which has better reliablility. I don't need to have to buy additional antennas or whatever as well.

Re: A good Wifi Adapter ?
The USB port can't deliver as much power as a card slot, but there is a type of wireless USB adapter that might be good enough anyway. Budget maker TP-Link has a G and N series of adapters where you have a USB cable put into the computer and the wireless adapter with an included external antenna sitting at the end of the cable. Might do well for positioning depending on the circumstances, compared to having stronger antennas stick out the back of the PC. TP-Link seems to make decent stuff considering the price.

Re: A good Wifi Adapter ?
In case you didn't know already - go for Wireless N. The range difference between N and G is rather substantial.
My old laptop, for example, had a PCMCIA Wireless Netgear Rangemax (G) card and it could pick up a couple of houses plus one of the networks in my home (the other is obscured by thick brick walls). My new laptop has a bog standard Intel Wireless N adapter and it can pick up over twice as many wireless networks (and occasionally the one blocked by the brick walls).

Re: A good Wifi Adapter ?
thanks takahura bought already g. Cant find any network i think because driver issue. Seems ipv 6/4 protocols need to be configured as it show as disconnected in status . Maybe a conflict with the built in intel wifi. Intel shows me 1 or 2 networks but the signal is very poor that i cant connect to any.
Damn mobile keypad

Re: A good Wifi Adapter ?
If your DHCP is set to auto then you won't need to worry about setting the IP address of either IPv4 or IPv6, provided your wireless router is acting as a DHCP server (which it will be, unless you configured it to not be).
Logically, the problem with the wireless dongle's connection will lie elsewhere, most likely due to having two wireless network cards; if you can detect wireless networks using the Intel wireless then that would mean that the dongle is unable to operate and detect wireless networks. Try disabling the Intel wireless card and re-freshing the wireless networks. If it still comes back without detecting any wireless networks then you know that the problem lies elsewhere (possibly the drivers or maybe how the software has been configured).
