Motherboard and ram.
Hi,
I recently bought a motherboard but it was half an inch too big and wouldn't align with the screw slots so I've had to send it back and am now searching for a new motherboard. I have been searching through the usual online stores and am unsure what to get. Was wondering if anyone here would have any good recommendations. My pc specs are: Case: NZXT Rogue PSU: 750W Tagan CPU: intel core 2 duo E7300 GFX: ATI asus HD 4870 As for the ram I am currently looking for an upgrade from ddr2 to ddr3 so the mobo will have to be ddr3 as well as compatible with the rest of my pc. I am looking to spend around the -200 area. Thanks |

Re: Motherboard and ram.
Just in case you already have a working motherboard, stay with it even if it feels old. It's not worth it to get DDR3 memory for the Socket-775 platform. There won't be any new CPU's made for it either. Consider saving the money in such a case.

Re: Motherboard and ram.
Thanks for your reply but I do need a new mobo as the pci-e slot on my current mobo has burnt out or something and I can't put the gfx in. I am using onboard gfx atm and have been using it for a few months but need to get new mobo so I can use the gfx card.
I would send the mobo back for repairs but the company is currently in the middle of a takeover and returns take months with them now. |

Re: Motherboard and ram.
I'd go for the rather impressive looking GA-EP43T-USB3 from Gigabyte GA-EP43T-USB3 (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE
Supports your CPU as well as DDR3 and even has a couple of USB3 ports which makes it that little bit more futureproof and flexible. (You could even spend as little as €35 to add SATA 3 support in the future through a PCIe card in that board. ) |

Re: Motherboard and ram.
Would that mb fit into my case? My case only supports micro atx I think. That motherboard looks a bit too long.

Re: Motherboard and ram.
Ah, didnt realise that. I guess its something like this then: GA-EG41MFT-US2H (rev. 1.3) - GIGABYTE
Has onboard video again but you can just ignore that and plug in your card as you did on the existing board. |

What does this do?

Re: Motherboard and ram.
Would reccomend against buying an expensive board for an LGA775 system at the minute. Save your money for a future build, and get something cheaper to last until then.
