System Specs

ASUS Motherboard

What are the main differences between the P6X58D-E and Premium?

I've had a look around the Internet for some answers to this but I only get differences that favour the E in pretty much all respects:
  • The E only has 1 network port
  • The E doesn't have an onboard reset switch
  • The E has RAID capabilities for SATA-3
  • The E is substantially cheaper
  • The E has a better Firewire controller
  • The Premium has Speedgate
Surely there would be some redeeming feature of the Premium that gives it the extra £100-odd in price, or is it just Speedgate that cranks the price over?

Also, one thing I couldn't find at all - what's the performance difference like?

I had to return my P6X58D Premium yesterday because it gave me constant blue screens (serves me right for getting a refurb unit I guess). I was considering paying the difference to buy it new but now I'm thinking of swapping...

Re: ASUS Motherboard

Go here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. and select product comparison on the left.

Choose the 2 boards and it lets you compare (though you have most of it sorted already).

I'd get rid of the Premium and go with the E... performance will be identical, see our roundup from today for an example of how close all the X58 boards are.
