Hi I am new to this site. Sorry if I post thread in the wrong section. My issue is that I can't find BIOS update for my PC. It is a Gateway GT 5674, windows 7 64-bit. I am not sure if there is an update for my bios. I have searched for hours and no luck . If I don't mention important information let me know and I will post it to. AIDA32 and other programs had BIOS as unknown I found them in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System registry.

You need to find the motherboard model and make. If it is some custom by Gateway, then you need to contact them directly or through their website.

The motherboard is the manufactured one (Gateway ECS MCP61PM-GM AM2 MATX Motherboard Mfr P/N 4006254R). I have also checked on gateway.com and no luck either. well the problem I am having is lag. I know it is not likely to be the BIOS but I wanted to keep it up to date. For a quad-core it should not lag like in games such as warcraft 3 or doing multiple things. I had a Gateway GT5482E and ran the same programs with no lag and it was a dual-core. I am not that good with computers but I do know enough. I am thinking of reinstalling the whole OS to see if it makes a difference. What could cauld cause the PC to lag?

Depends. Are you talking about lag in the actual way it is used, that is internet lag, or general slowness in games and/or desktop usage?

Probably the second.

From a quick check, the graphics/video solution of the PC in question is...lackluster. To be very polite. It is very old (technology) and even when as technology was new, it was still obsolete apart from basic stuff.

Now, if you say you had the GT5482E model and had no such problems with the same exact games, then I am surprised since it is an older model with slower CPU but the same exact graphics/video solution. Still, I can do nothing but accept your word, in which case, unless there is a rare (for this problem) hardware fault, I would say it is a software one, at least in part.

Have you installed the AMD CPU drivers? The AMD site is too slow at the moment, but look for the files if you haven't already done so. I can't remember their exact name, just woke up.

Yeah it was the sencond thing you said "general slowness in games and/or desktop usage" and I can't find the cpu drivers I searched amd an Google it an no luck. I am sorry i forgot to mention the video card is Nvidia Gforce 9400 GT (always with GT just noticed lol). Could it be something wrong with it? I had it on the other computer and was running fine. Should I remove it and try it without the V-Card?

So you have a seperate video card? Make sure you download the latest drivers for it too.
NVIDIA DRIVERS 258.96 WHQL

Make sure of a few other things first.

1)Make sure your Geforce is in place and the monitor is connected to it.
2)Go to BIOS and make sure you have onboard graphics/video disabled.
3)load windows, and install the geforce drivers from the link I gave you. After you install them, make sure you restart the computer.
