RMA Chimei 22 inch LCD
The very first LCD I bought for myself was with the money I got for my 60th Birthday...almost two years ago.
I really liked all the new screen real estate after having used a 21 inch CRT for a few years. After setting up my new Eyefinity system using three 24 inch LCDs made by Viewsonic, I had relegated my Chimei to my back up PC here. It worked well. Until about a week ago. I had shut down the system to do some work inside that case and, when it came time to turn it back on, the yellow light would blink on the LCD and then go off. It eventually quit coming on at all. So, I did some checking online to see what kind of warranty the screen had. It seems I'm quite lucky in this regard as the screen is still under warranty...but, only for a little over another MONTH. If it had gone out after October 28th, I would be stuck with a dead LCD. As it stands, it's presently in transit to be fixed under warranty. AND, fortunately, I'm one of those guys who never, ever throws out a receipt. I still had the receipt and it took only a little digging to get to it. Not only that, but I still had the original box sitting on the shelf up in my closet here. As this was my biggest 60th Birthday gift, it has some sentimental value over and above the actual retail value. So, I'll be very happy to get it back in, probably, BETTER working condition that when it was new. Just take a little advice and hang on to those receipts from your major purchases. They may just save you some money down the road if there's ever a problem. |

Re: RMA Chimei 22 inch LCD
or you might get a refurbished unit back and there goes the sentimental value.
Up until a few years ago i kept receipts from all of my electronic purchases even down to things like cables. So i had receipts dating back to the mid 80'. A while back i reorganised my files by swapping them out of a carrying folder to hanging folders in my desk and decided to discard alot of paperwork. I now only keep stuff that has been purchased recently and still have warranties. But it is good advice to hang on to those receipts and even boxes, if of course you have enough space. I also maintain a PC and CE excel list with all the details about purchases i've made over the years. I'm scared to add up the total

Re: RMA Chimei 22 inch LCD
I got confirmation that the LCD has been delivered. Now we'll wait to see what they do with it. I read that there were some problems with a capacitor on the ON/OFF part of these. It's likely something I could have replaced myself, but, as it's under warranty, that's the way to go.
And, as for refurbished: In most cases those are even better than new as they've "Usually" gone through a bit more quality testing than the ones coming off the assembly line. |

Re: RMA Chimei 22 inch LCD
Got the LCD back today and it's working great....so far. And, it's definitely the same one. I had my original box to ship it to them and they shipped it back in that same box.
So far, it's all good.
