I had a cheap headset from RShack plugged into a splitter, also going to my speaker system being feed from my Line output plug on my MBoard. I could have both of them playing sound at the same time. Now I got a Corsair HS-1 gaming headset which is USB hook up. After installing software for the Corsair headset, I have now discovered that I have sound on my headset (which is good) but to get sound on my speakers, I have to go to sound at control panel and change my default setting from my HS-1 headset to the old speakers setting making it the default which cuts off sound on my headset. I don't consider this a problem, and can live with it, but is there away to have sound on both speakers and headset like it use to be????

Re: New headset
guess it is a matter of stereo and mono system.
also have the same issue on my headset, it is stereo but my sound output is mono so I have to trick the port to give me sounds on both side by not plugging it completely. I hope it helps. |

Re: New headset
you want to use your headset for all audio tasks and be able to turn your speakers on for the same thing?
if this is the case... then yes you'll have to do this everytime.. in vista/windows 7 you can dictate which audio device is used for what.. example is setting your speakers to normal all sounds and setting your headset for communication applications... Then using the various programs like ventrilo to pick the device you wish to use.

Re: New headset
wouldn't it depends on the sound card software? I know on mine I can jus tick a box to have sound on both speakers and headphones. (uncheck automatically mute speakers)

Re: New headset
The difference here is that its two seperate devices. The HS-1 is an audio card and a headset. Your two outputs are running of the same card/driver/panel so you can use both if you want.

Re: New headset
Hi Veridian3, If I upgraded my Woofer and speaker system to a USB speaker system, Would that allow me to have sound on both my speakers and headset at the same time??????

Re: New headset
No, only one device can be active. There is a small chance that if you had a USB device which had a 3.5mm socket somewhere on it then you could use some normal headphones on that but i would imagine plugging in a device to 3.5mm on the USB device would automatically mute the speakers.
