Water Cooling Setup
I'm looking to go to a water cooling setup due to adding a stronger second video card and new cpu, and am looking for any advice on certain components or setup. The information on my rig is current, with the following changes:
Processor: Will be an AMD 940 Phenom II X4 Video Card: The 4850 will be swapped for a 5XXX series (not sure of card yet) I have no preference on any manufacturer or method of water cooling products, I just want what works the best. |

Re: Water Cooling Setup
Why not go for a 6850 (or wait for a new cooler for the 6870) and get a high-performance CPU fan?
I keep looking at water cooling then I think of the price... If you add together the cost of a graphics card with a full water cooling setup you might as well just get a 5970 or the like.

Re: Water Cooling Setup
2 Reasons:
1- I am tired of my computer sounding like a jet prepping for takeoff. 2- Having two 2-slot cards in my system terrifies me about heat in the computer case. Didn't realize the price-point on the 6870, I think I'll probably get one of those regardless. |

2 - Get 1 instead Either that or buy a motherboard with more spacing. It still works out cheaper than water cooling ![]() If you're dead set on water-cooling though...

Re: Water Cooling Setup
I've been water cooing since 2003 when I got my first Koolance EXOS setup.
If you are looking for cooling a non or mild OCed system, then I can highly recommend the Koolance products. Especially for a first time WCer. Water cooling systems, pc liquid cooling kit, cpu, video card, hard drive They have excellent instructions. All of their components are designed to work with each other, and their compression fittings make installing a breeze. I'm a big fan of the EXOS external system since it's easy to move it from case to case when you upgrade. If you are going to want to do some major OCing, and want to squeeze out that last .01 deg of cooling, than look at someone like Danger Den or Swiftec(sp?).

Re: Water Cooling Setup
I'm wanting something that isn't the most complicated thing ever to do, but allows me to cool off some internal stuff that concerns me, and gives me room for decent oc.
