My old trusting Thrustmaster 360 Modena Pro just broke.. the break pedal went to pieces and gluing it together just won't hold.

It's done a good job, I bought it in 2002. So, I need a new one. Sure, I could use the paddles for throttle and breaking but it's not quite the same control as the pedals give.

All I know is that I want something as closely as I can get since I loved it.

This means:

A wheel with a PoV button, I don't want this on the side as I see some wheels have.

At least 6 more buttons on the wheel.

Paddles for gear shifting. I don't want the stick. Don't mind if it has both but it has to have paddles.

Pedals that can take some pounding. Clutch isn't really needed, it can be optional. If there is a clutch pedal I can't say I'll be sorry.

Optional:

Force feedback. I don't really care that much for it since my old wheel didn't have it.

Paddles for throttle and breaking (same function as the pedals)

I've looked around a bit and there's a few selections but I don't know what's good or not. The logitech G25 and G27 are both a bit to expensive for my taste really, and they don't seem to have a PoV on the wheel.

First of all, you should ALWAYS inlcude a price range.

Second, what is this "paddles for throttle and breaking"? Where are they located, on the wheel? So the wheel has two pairs of paddles? I have never heard of this before.

Yes, my old wheel has two sets of paddles. One pair that are digital and works for gear shifting and the other pair that are analog and work just like the pedals.

It's not a must but I would prefer that a new wheel had that as well.

Well, I kind of gave away the price range since I said I think both the G25 and G27 are a bit to expensive.. but to be fair, if a wheel has all the functions I want the price isn't that important.

I really prefer the PoV to be reachable with my right thumb. That's the way I'm used to and that's the way all joysticks I've had are designed.. but I guess I can live with it if it's a leftie if there's no other choise.

Webshops are difficult really. Looking at pictures doesn't always say everything you know and in many of them the data are far from satisfying. It's not like it was 10 years ago when you could go out to touch things in stores and get a feel for them and have a closer look.

Hence I'm asking. I've been browsing through different sites but I'm still a bit lost in finding one that fits my demands. If I could find a replacement for my pedals that would be best because it's a great wheel but it hasn't been avaliable for years.

If you don't want to spend the money to get a G25 or G27, Just get a Driving force GT.

Most good race sims let you choose.. others just put in "stops" at around 360 degrees.. like F1 2010. GT5 doesn't but you never seem to need the full 900 degrees. For the most part 900 degrees rotation is more realistic, especially inn games like GT5.

It won't, not in games like Formula 1. On a real race car, and by that I mean race cars and not touring cars and such, you have direct steering with a wheel that turns just a bit more than 180 degrees. Imagine it yourself, sitting in a tight cockpit like that and having to turn the wheel around 2 1/2 times in a tight curve combination. It's just not possible.

That's the type of driving games I play and I want it to feel as real as possible.

Well, a racecar is a racecar. A WRC car is a normal car converted for racing.. sort of.

But that's beside the point. I want a "normal" wheel with no 900 degree turning, one that suits the type of driving I mostly do.

Been trying to fix my old pedals but it holds for about 5 minutes so they're dead...

For me, and I have owned probably 7 or 8 wheels, the G25/G27 is the wheel to get now. Compatibility is a big thing, but if you want to use it for Xbox it will not work. One of the fanatec wheels does though.

Either that or DFgt, but you could look at some of the other Fanatecs.

I thought they used to have more... and one is out of stock. Not sure what's going on with that.

if you get pretty much any of the other low priced wheel floating around out there you will be disappointed probably.

Oh- there are some really good reviews of wheels here-

One episode a few months back or maybe more had like 5 or 6 wheels reviewed. These guys lean toward Fanatec, but they are honest I think for the most part. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. uses a G25 BTW.. so do many real race car drivers who also sim race if that tells you anything.
