I have heard good things about that last Asus.

I do believe that 120hz monitor would improve your play at counterstrike (vsync off) since you should be able to play at a much smoother actual 120fps than max of 60 for most other monitors. Then again it depends on your actual skill at the game.


As for the Samsung monitor. SAmsung monitors have issues with their stands being crap ass CRAP ASS stands. The monitors themselves though are good.
Still...if counterstrike is the main reason for this monitor, you might as well get the 2ms one.

Argh, just typed a long post and lost it.

Basically I can buy the ASUS monitor from scan and the Nvidia 3D vision glasses from pixmania for a combined total of 354.97, including vat and delivery. BANG ON BUDGET!

Whereas if I buy the monitor and glasses combined it costs an extra £43. Always better to shop around.

HOWEVER I don't know if my gfx card will even be good enough for 3D - is there a test I can do? Plus I don't really need the 3D glasses yet anyway...

So should I go for that monitor then? Full deets: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.


And don't worry about it making CS play better, I just want everything on screen to look sexay, plus the monitor itself to make my computer desk look a bit smarter.

By all means get a 3d compatible monitor, but if you're not convinced then, at the risk of some controversy, I would suggest that this is not something worth blowing the bank on.

What I'd do in your position: Get a really nice, well specced, reliable conventional monitor and pocket the change.

I am never going to buy the glasses so I can't really say that it is something worthwhile. But that is just me. If your graphics card can take it, I don't know, my guess is....maybe. Check Nvidia's site.
One thing to remember though is what you are buying. Focus on that. If you know you are not going to use the glasses for a long while, why spend the money on them now?

I couldn't find it that cheap.

The previously mentioned plug problems (and also bad things said about their stands) has put me off Samsung a bit though.

Mum gets paid on Friday - prob gonna order the Asus.
