??? Need a case to fit this mobo - smallest possible please

Hey. My brother recently got a new motherboard and has given his old one to my dad.

He needs a case to put the mobo in.

It's a EVGA nForce 650i Ultra 775.
Also will have a 256MB Leadtek 7950GT, PCI-E (x16) gfx in there.

My dad's measured it, including the card, and got the following:

Width 250mm
Length 320mm
Depth 150mm
Diagonal 390mm

The new case will be behind the TV in the living room so he wants it a) as small as possible and b) black.

We also need a PSU so please can you suggest one for it. Also has 4GB DDR2 RAM and a dualcoare e6850 processor (don't quote me on that - my brother's memory), if that helps sway the decision.

PC will be used to stream videos, playing music and going on the internet. No Photoshop, gaming or anything like that.

So, yeah, please suggest a case. A nice small, sleak lookig, kickass case.

Thanks!

Re: Need a case to fit this mobo - smallest possible please

I used to have an E6850. Could hit 4.2Ghz OC pretty easily -- for a dual core core 2, it's amazing.

Anyway.

You said it's 250mm wide? That's awfully wide. I only know of a few midtowers that can fit it (although most full towers can). My CM Storm Sniper

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Storm Sniper SGC-6000-KXN1-GP Black Steel, ABS Plastic, Mesh bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

is 254 mm wide, and it's one of the largest midtowers on the market. I'd recommend it, but it isn't exactly what you're looking for (I think).'

As for PSU, I would recommend the Corsair TX650 if budget allows.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

Slightly less quality (imho) but another good option is the Antec EarthWatts 650W:

Newegg.com - Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W Continuous Power ATX12V Ver.2.2 / EPS12V version 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC "compatible with Core i7/Core i5" Power Supply

Both should be able to run that rig no problem. You could probably cut back 50-100W, but spending that extra $10 or so would help future proof the computer (if only a little).

Are you sure it's that wide? If not, you might be able to look at a full ATX HTPC, or perhaps something like an NZXT Panzerbox.

Re: Need a case to fit this mobo - smallest possible please

I'm beginning to think that you may have swapped the depth and width dimensions around. If you are looking for a tower design, one of the smallest is the Lian Li PC-A05. There is also the CoolerMaster Elite 360, though not as sleek looking as the A05.

Like blibbax says, a horizontal ATX HTPC case is an option if there is enough room behind the TV, there's quite a few models from Antec, Silverstone and Lian Li.

Re: Need a case to fit this mobo - smallest possible please

I've just asked him and he wants it preferably lying flat under the ps3 so if you can find an old skool desktop style one then that would win, otherwise could he just get a tower one and put it on it's side? Cooling shouldn't be much of a problem cos it'll only be on three hours at a time max.

Or am I talking baloney.

Oh and saying the names of cases is great but if you could link to a uk supplier I'd live you for ever!

Almost all of them are 94mm high. How can a graphics card fit in that? :?

Have a look at these:

Scan.co.uk: Silverstone Grandia GD01B-R Desktop Black Desktop/HTPC Case w/o PSU - SST-GD01B-R

Scan.co.uk: Zalman HD501 Home Theatre PC Case

Scan do have other HTPC style cases, but they are either out of stock or quite expensive, but here's the full list if you want to browse (but not all are ATX though):
