450 problem
My mum had a complete overhaul with her PC a few months ago and keeps getting problems with the display.
Originally, the only drivers available were beta drivers as the 450 had only just been released. Recently, it has been showing signs of issues - fuzzy screen, blocks of the screen gone awry and so forth. Because I don't use the PC I don't know what kind of updates or drivers have been installed along the way and my mum doesn't know either; it's a case of see an update, install the update. The drivers were given a fresh install yesterday morning. I'm going to try swapping out the graphics card this evening to check to make sure it is that at fault but if that solves it, does anyone have any other ideas? CPU: Core i7 950 RAM: Corsair Dominator 2GHz M/B: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R if memory serves GFX: EVGA GTS 450 PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 700W Monitors: Two Dell 23" 1920x1080 (two different models, both bought this year, plugged in using DVI)

Re: 450 problem
Moved by request.
When you say fuzzy screen, are we talking fonts are fuzzy, the whole picture, the same using either screen, does the corruption show if you take a screenshot, if not try taking a shot with a camera and post it up. If the graphics card is causing the corruption monitor the temps and see how the system is handling heat. |

Re: 450 problem
Much appreciated.
The screen is overall distorted. There are a variety of different types of distortion on the screen - patches of colour not correct, squares over the screen and so forth. No blurring or breaks, just various lines, squares and rectangles of random colours. I wasn't paying attention to both screens but I believe the same problem was occurring on both. I came across a bigger problem this morning, unfortunately. I uninstalled the drivers from the device manager and when I rebooted the system the image wouldn't progress further than the Windows logo, which was still animated. However, the Windows startup sound (when it gets to the password entry screen) sounded after a normal amount of time, even though the screen didn't progress. On a whim, I entered the password but there were no signs (or sounds) of Windows logging on. This is how I had left it this morning (there are other PCs that she can use). My mum did mention that there were startup issues but I put this down to the graphics card and hadn't witnessed any issues before. Of course now I won't be able to see these issues... This particular issue was a first. I also tried changing the graphics card to one of mine. I'm not sure whether it solved the blotchy screen issue as the issue I described above remained. I haven't checked anything else yet as I did this a few minutes before leaving for work this morning but I would imagine that my next port of call would be to test the memory.

Re: 450 problem
Apparently, the logo issue that I had described no longer occurs (don't know what became of that one).
Anyway, my graphics card works fine in her PC. Next step is to see if the 450 works in my system...
