Are cheap IPS panels worth buying?
I've been getting more into photography lately and wanting a monitor that can show colors more accurately. All the real good ones I know about are around $1000. And then I found the Viewsonic VP2365wb and the NEC MultiSync EA231WMI-BK, both are around $300. Are they "crippled" in any way compared to their more well known more expensive parts?

Re: Are cheap IPS panels worth buying?
Good choice, but i'm not sure you're going to find color accuracy on e-ips panels, you'll have to spend a little more for that. For what you described it's good enough, especially after calibrated. Whatever you choose, it's going to make a huge difference if you're coming from a TN. There is also the Dell U2311H if you're concerned about response time. All 3 use the same panel from LG, although the viewsonic doesn't have DisplayPort, if you even care. As for the last question, professional grade monitors have more features, factory calibrated using a very expensive device, ability to set specific values that wouldn't be available otherwise, better panel, etc.

Thanks, that was pretty much exactly what I was wondering. I'd seen h-ips compared with s-ips panels but e-ips is completely new to me.
