Re: Help me choose new graphic card...
the 5850 and 6850 I would think to be very similar in speeds but I see that the 5850 you listed to be a fair amount more expensive.
bottlenecking in when there is a limiting factor between the beginning and the end of the processes. |

Re: Help me choose new graphic card...
I'd say go with the 6850. It's newer tech.
Bottlenecking happens when there is a mismatch between the CPU and GPU. To take it to an extreme, if you have a system with a single core Sempron LE-1250 Sparta running at 2.2GHz, with an HD 5970 in it, then the CPU won't be able to send information fast enough to the GPU. You won't see the FPS that the GPU is capable of. In that case the CPU is bottlenecking the GPU. At the other extreme, in a system with a Phenom II X6 1100T, and an HD 3450, the GPU won't be able to process the information as fast as the CPU can send it, so the GPU would be doing the bottlenecking. With your CPU and a 6850, you will be close enough that you shouldn't see any serious bottlenecking.

Re: Help me choose new graphic card...
I agree with OldB. Even though the HD6850 is slower than the HD5850 it isn't by much, but it is cheaper, and the fan is much quieter.
