Phoenix Award Bios v6.00 PG Upgrade
Hello, I'm looking to update my bios for the following pc:
HP Model a6130n Motherboard Properties Motherboard ID 04/04/2007-MCP61P-6A61KE11C-00 Motherboard Name Unknown Front Side Bus Properties Bus Type AMD Hammer Real Clock 200 MHz Effective Clock 200 MHz BIOS Properties BIOS Type Award Award BIOS Type Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG System BIOS Date 04/04/07 Video BIOS Date 06/12/09 BIOS Manufacturer Company Name Phoenix Technologies Ltd. Product Information http://www.phoenix.com/en/products/default.htm My intentions are to install a quad core CPU on this board. I am wondering if this is possible as well and if a BIOS upgrade would even be necessary to do such an upgrade. |

Re: Phoenix Award Bios v6.00 PG Upgrade
The only possible BIOS updates you will get for that board would have to come from HP, so look there first...... If they don't spec a BIOS for a quad core, you're probably out of luck on that.

Re: Phoenix Award Bios v6.00 PG Upgrade
This is the motherboard I tracked down from the HP site for the a6130n, it looks like quad-core cpus are not supported.

Re: Phoenix Award Bios v6.00 PG Upgrade
The OP hasn't been on this forum since, probably didn't even read my reply.
But the same thing stands... If the original manufacturer doesn't have a BIOS update then there isn't one. There's no such thing as "generic" BIOS updates for any boards or by any BIOS manufacturer..... they are always custom coded for the specific boards by the board manufacturer or system maker.

Re: Phoenix Award Bios v6.00 PG Upgrade
Biostar..... BIOSTAR :: Motherboard
The ONLY place you might find one. There are a few P4M890-M7 boards, none with a "B" extension..... (and none named "P4M89-M7B" You need to get the real number directly from the board) You have to match your board EXACTLY to one listed get the right BIOS. If there's anything there newer than what you have, I don't know. Is there a specific reason you need to flash your BIOS?
