Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
Maybe the graphics card, but you might be better off upgrading the whole system around this time next year. It really depends on how often you can afford upgrades, and how much of an upgrade.

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
It would already make a difference by getting a 64 bit OS.
You got there 5gb memory in total, while 32 bit can only support about ~3gb of this..

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
You have a very similar build to my old rig. At this point, it's more worthwhile to upgrade (aka redo) the entire system, though something like a GTX 460 or HD6850 could prolong it's usefulness a little while longer.

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
Assuming you use it for gaming, then Windows 7 plus a new graphics card will be a nice upgrade. As Neshi mentioned, a 64 bit OS will let you use the entire 4GB of RAM, and Windows 7 will let you play games with DX10/11 graphics. A new graphics card will let you play at higher frames rates and higher resolutions. You CPU should be plenty fast for most games.

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
What resolution do you game on?
Since that card is serving you well, perhaps you might want to wait just a little bit longer? I don't know what the prices are in Germany, but, looking at the prices here, with a 100€ cap, your choice would be between a Radeon 5750 and a GeForce GTS 450. The cards are a close match. There is a review here, but mind the fact that these 450s are all factory overclocked and slightly more expensive (with the Gigabyte one being the closest to the reference settings). If by any chance you manage to squeeze a Radeon 5770 into your budget, it would be a good solution too. Or, like I said, if the current card is still doing well and you're not in a hurry to upgrade, wait a bit and possibly get something better for the money.

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
currenty on 1280x1024 (85 hertz) i have a 19" crt monitor and the prices here are high i bought my gpu for 40 € and it was used but i think that was a good deal but the new hd and gtx series are way more expensive anyway i want to ask if there is a cpu that supports fsb 1600?

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
Only some quad core extreme edition CPUs support FSB 1600, I don't think that that should bother you. For gaming, a 3GHz dual core should handle everything with ease.
If you happen to get a good deal on a Core 2 Quad (Q6700, Q8400, Q9300 or better), that would probably increase the life span of your machine for some time. If not, just upgrade your GPU and keep it while it lasts. At 1280*1024 either a GeForce GTS 450 or Radeon 5750 should serve you well. If their prices are too high, wait, because anything below that isn't that much stronger than what you already have.

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
Well, I think that you have a well-balanced system right now, so I think that you should upgrade cpu and gpu at the same time. I say that because I had an Intel Pentium E2220@3,2ghz with my HD3870 (like your card performance-wise) and it bottlenecked my system (specially in minimum frame rates, smoothness and stuttering). I bought the Q9550 and all improved, but my gpu is getting a bit old, although at 1280x1024 (thatīs the res I game) still performs very well. After the change, my medium fps increased a bit, but minimum increased quite a lot.
Itīs the reason why I think that with a gpu change, you wonīt notice a lot of difference because of your cpu (you will have fps dips when playing), but changing only your cpu, I think itīs useless as you have a powerful enough cpu to handle your graphics card. My recommendation, wait for something better to change all system. Nowadays, your system is enough to play most games at 1280x1024, at least I think so. Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
Somethings gone badly wrong if gaming is worse. Are your graphics and chipset drivers properly installed?
I'd reccomend against upgrading that machine. It's a pretty decent system as it is, so unless you have a lot to spend, which you say you don't, you're not going to get a big enough upgrade to make it worthwhile. Yes, something like a GTS450 is significantly faster than what you have, but wait until you need it. I disagree entirely with the suggestion that that system is CPU bottleknecked - if so, something's broken. I have an inferior CPU, and when running it with a 9600GT, found the system to be GPU bottleknecked in all reasonable situations at 1440x900.

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
if gaming is worse, check your ingame settings.
Are you sure you are playing with the same settings in this new OS as you did before? DX 11 usually has a lot more eye-candy than DX 9 which strains the system a lot more. Same resolution, visual graphics (shadows, textures)..

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
His graphics card supports up to DX10.
Is your FNV completely patched? Last edited by iPlayer; Jan 8, 2011 at 05:09 AM. |

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
still...
if he's accidentally is using a higher res now than before it's no wonder why he is getting less performance. if graphic settings aren't the case I would look into updating drivers

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
It seems a game related problem (at least in COD):
Windows 7 vs Windows XP performance in Black Ops. What the heck? - Steam Users' Forums Some people there say that the last patch fix the bug, some others say that it got worse. |

Re: what do u think of my pc???:/
Also make sure your audio/chipset drivers are up to date. Check Asrock's homepage.
