The Manna from HardwareHeaven system gets a makeover
![]() This system. Manna from HardwareHeaven Got a few overhauls lately as did a couple of other systems around here....... First of all the ASRock M3A790GXH/128M that was the heart of my winnings last year got a new CPU, RAM, Second HD5770, new drives, and PSU........ ![]() The CPU I added is an AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black edition that unlocked the other 2 cores....... So it reads as a Deneb X4 B55. The 2 gigs of Patriot RAM was replaced with 8 gigs of Corsair XMS3 1333 For the second video card I got an XFX HD5770 to match the HD5770 Engineering Sample I won here just before DH turned into HH, and Dyre sent me a crossfire bridge for some dual card action...... eyefinity as well. For drives, I got a pair of Seagate 7200.12 500G on a Newegg sale day..... And for the PSU I picked up an Antec Earthwatts 650...... I also had recently purchased these........ NEW MONITORS for Eyefinity goodness. For sound I have an Audigy 4 and a DTT2500 Cambridge Soundworks "Desktop Theater." (Behind the coffee cup!) for general listening and play time. So................. This left me in a quandary........ What to do with the extra Athlon II X2, 2 gigs of Patriot RAM , extra drives, PSU etc..... After all I got a "family pack" of Windows 7 Upgrade, Ya Know? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All I needed was MOBO, Case and a low end video card along with the misc bits and pieces from Manna and stuff laying around from some decommissioned P4's......... An ECS A880GM-AD3 and a Gigabyte HD4550 fit well in the new rackmount case with the SB Live Platinum and Audigy Platinum..... ![]() These 3 monitors are running in surround view and I will be adding a fourth very soon..... Just need to build a shelf for it....... Also note the Behringer BCF2000 B-Control surface and the Sans Digital RAID tower...... ( 4 X 500 gig in RAID 1/0 at the moment) ![]() Behind me is an ASUS P5PE-VM with an E2200 and 2 gigs, booting XP off an old 8 gig SanDisk SSD that runs all my MIDI stuff...... Yamaha PSR-500 keyboard and a Yamaha YDD-60 drum kit..... This system all came from the surplus shop and the instruments were given to me.... Keyboard didn't work at the time. I'm still doing some configuring/setup work to get these all working together as a recording studio, and I need a good amp and speakers (or powered monitors) but you can see where I'm headed with this....... and you guys thought it was all about games.

Awesome setup, just lovely!
Getting great use out of the 5 to 10 year old (and older...) stuff too - quite creatively crafted.

Re: The Manna from HardwareHeaven system gets a makeover
I've got to do some cleaning and organizing so that I can put up some nice photos of my own setup here.
But, you've got a cool setup there and I hope you can get that failed system working again for you without some hefty out of pocket costs to you. And, I'm glad that crossfire bridge is working well. Some day, I may just give the dual cards a go myself. |
