Cable managment
Hey guys I just finished up my new build and was wondering if anyone had tips for extending cables that are to short.
or for getting stiff wires to flex more so that I don't mess up harddrives and can hide them away better. THe cables I have that are short is mostly the case front panel audio wires that have to run all the way across my board to the very bottom corner which makes it need a straight diagonal across the board. the other is the 4 pin MB power connector which I would assume I could just splice in some nice stranded wire to make it longer and fit the case better or is high strand count wire a bad thing in computer power because I know it is prefered in RC cars |

Re: Cable managment
You mean something like this for the 4 pin?
Newegg.com - Athena Power 8" Extension & Conversion Four-In-One Model Cable-M84M84F That should be long enough to let you run the cable under the MB. You are really going to be work pretty hard to get decent cable management with that case. It just doean't allow for decent cable management, unless you get out a Dremel and start cutting holes in it. You could also do a Google search with: "cable management" "antec 300" and take a look at what some other folks have done with that case. That's one reason I always recommend one of the CM 690 style cases...they make provisions for cable management.

Re: Cable managment
thanks for that idea oldbuzzard I hadn't thought of it being that popular of a case but I guess it is cheap.
Case Mod Antec 300 improvements - bit-tech.net Forums found that which seems like alot of work but well worth the product. though I would have blacked the case out while I was at it. I guess i need to get some wires to splice the extra length needed for my audio connector |

Re: Cable managment
Looks better!
Check your board's specs.... you may be taking a performance hit with the 5770 in that blue slot...... Usually the top slot is X16... the blue may be X4. By using it there your card can't work as fast.

Re: Cable managment
yeah you should be primarily using the top slot.. and the bottom slot for an additional card....

Re: Cable managment
actually this Asus board uses the blue slot as x16 when the supplied VGA switch card is installed in the upper slot or as x8 without that card.
