i7 CPU cooler

Hey I just found out that HardwareHeaven has a forums didn't realise and I've been reading reviews here for ages.

I'll cut to the chase

I recently built a new i7 system and I'm looking for a reasonably priced CPU cooler

I've got my eyes on a Xigmatek Dark knight and a Titan Fenrir evo.

I'm buying from CCLOnline.com as they offer free shipping to Northern Ireland which is where I live.

So what I want to know is what cooler should I get? I'm planning on trying to over-clock my i7 930 to around 4Ghz if possible. Main requirements is under £35 but I can strech to 40 if there's going be a significant improvement including VAT and for the cooler to be reasonably quiet.

My pc is quite loud atm currently got a xigmatek Midgard case and using the fans that came with it and their hellish loud so They'll be getting replaced soon too.

Thanks alot

Re: i7 CPU cooler

The Fenrir is a nice cooler, in the sub £40 price range my choice would be the Corsair A50. Nice simple install, good perfomrance. The performance of the two is within 1-2c of each other but the Corsair fan (unless Titan or Corsair have changed them recently) is quieter at full RPM.

Once you start paying more it ends up in a chain of choices... e.g. the Noctua cooler CCL do is £43... v good cooler. Then that is only £4 cheaper than the CoolIT ECO which is a great cooler... etc etc.
