Re: what to buy???
At this point I'm going to go ahead and say he should just get the GTS 450 or a HD5770. Both are lower-end-of-the-spectrum in terms of costs, and both have DX11 and 1GB of video memory.

It's more of a compromise than a6XXX or GTX460 than anything.

Although I personally think he should just wait until he gets an entirely new rig...
