Image Corruption Using my XBOX 360 via Component Cables
I'm presently connecting my XBOX 360 using HD Component Cable from the 360 to an AVerMedia HD DVR PCIe capture card in my PC. From the capture card to my 24 inch LCD, I'm using an HDMI cable. The Display Setting in the 360 is 720P...which is the best I can set it to using this configuration.
Only recently I began to notice some image corruption. It shows up as flickering "hyphens". This ONLY shows up once I start my 360. It does NOT manifest itself with just the AVerMedia software started. I captured some of the problem using my Blackberry. The quality is low, but, the problem is very noticeable. I'm thinking it must be either the HD Component cable OR the HDMI cable. Or, do you have any thoughts on it? As long as I connect directly from the 360 to the monitor using the HDMI cable and 1080P, there's no corruption at all. So, I tend to think it's not the HDMI cable. My personal hunch is the HD Component connection. View the video and tell me your thoughts: |

Eh, either that or the graphics card on your PC is about to die .

![]() @BlueMak: The video card is fine. As I pointed out in that 4th paragraph that teme is checking there is no corruption at all during a direct link using the HDMI cable.

Re: Image Corruption Using my XBOX 360 via Component Cables
If you connect the xbox to the PCIe and then use the PC's connection to the monitor, you get the artifact, and only then, correct?
If yes, that's why I mentioned the computer's graphics card and not the console's. ![]() If you connect the console to the PCIe card and then the card directly to the monitor and not through the graphics card, then, I guess your card has a problem? Either way, it's too early lol.

Re: Image Corruption Using my XBOX 360 via Component Cables
Ahhhhh! Soooo much better!!!
I went up to GameStop today and picked up a Pre-owned GENUINE HD XBOX 360 cable set. Makes all the difference in the world! What I had been using was one of those Universal HD cable sets that can work with all the consoles. (FTR, I had messed up the original cable that came in the box with my 360S last July. This happened while attempting a mod to the cable housing to allow the HDMI to be connected at the same time. Don't ever try this! It doesn't work!) |

Re: Image Corruption Using my XBOX 360 via Component Cables
Confession Time!
Well, this is a bit embarrassing, but, as a means to help someone else avoid this same scenario, I'll go ahead and post this. ![]() After removing that universal cable and getting it ready to put away, I noticed something. The TV/HDTV switch had somehow gotten pushed back to the TV setting. I have absolutely no idea as to how that happened. In fact, the switch is barely noticeable and it's located at the main hub where the three console "plugs" join together. Apparently, at some point when I was doing work on and around the system, that cable got pulled in just such a manner as to allow something to catch it and push it into the TV setting. So, the whole situation must have been due to this and not a bad cable. BUT, what does puzzle me is why the 360 settings allowed me to choose even 720P when the cable wasn't set up to allow it? At any rate, I'm much happier with the official MS cable as it doesn't have the other to dangling plugs to have to deal with now. Here's an example of a screen shot from Medal of Honor on the 360 using this capture system I have:
