and pad ... i currently have a microsoft trackball ... preferably not over complicated with loads of buttons ... willing to spend £75 - £100 or $125 - $160 on mouse and pad ... any help would be appreciated

There's no definitive mouse, really, it's more to do with which one you fancy. There are a few things to take into consideration:

• Do you need Dark Laser or Bluetrack? In this case, no; you're after a mat too.
• Do you want wired or wireless? Maybe one that can be either?
• Do you have a preference of manufacturer?
• Do you want it to have an array of buttons?
• Do you want to go overkill on buttons for RPGs?
• What design do you favour? Simple? Colours?
• Does it need to have a high DPI?

My recommendation would be to visit the website of your favoured computing store and look at their range of gaming mice. Pick one (or a few) that you like the look of then ask back on here about the pros and cons.

Having used all of the big/new mices in the last 12-18 months i'm not sure I agree with that.

There are definitely definitive mice for different tasks. For example, there is nothing better than the Naga Epic for MMOs.

For general use though the Kone[+] is, from our testing, unbeatable. Huge flexibility in terms of button and sensor config. Great shape, looks awesome and the changeable weight is a real bonus too. Both myself and Craig use one for our main mice and cannot fault them... they also have regular driver/firmware updates too which is nice to see. (As an example the last one added a SC2 profile which was a nice touch)

Surface wise, most of the high end pads are good. Flexibility wise the Vespula is probably worth going for. 2 sided with a nice padded rest.

microsoft erganomic 4000 is still my choice pick..

there still doesn't appear to be any decent "split" erganomic keyboards out there.. specially gamer styles..

i can't for the life of me use a logitech G15 or such due to this... kills my ability to use a keyboard after about an hours use.

If you do decide to return it, be warned that OCUK makes you pay through the nose for the privilige of talking to them on the phone.

still fiddling about with the mouse's sensitivity ... i think it is a nice bit of kit ....the keyboard is compact ... all and all i'm pleased with my purchase


my microsoft keyboard was huge ... i have a fairly large desk ... i just wouldn't be able to use the mousemat with the keyboard as the mousepad is almost the same length as my arvo keyboard

Ok, fair enough with the grammar, then, but in that case...

Why copy something straight off the Roccat website in bold and place it, with no apparent justification or request, in a help thread? It's not like the information in that post hasn't already been covered, and it's not like Funster is even still looking for a new mouse.

I'm sorry if I'm just being harsh, but I really don't think it's hard to figure out that that's a daft thing to do.

Maybe he'll come back and offer a decent explanation, and I'll take it all back.
