New Ram and questions concerning watercooling ?

Well i recently decided i wanted to put in watercooling in my system and sleeve my wires.

My current setup:

MO: Asus CrossHair IV ROG
CPU: Phenom II X6 1090T
GFX: XFX Radeon 5870 1GB DDR5 x 2 i Crossfire.
HDD: WD Caviar Black 640GB
SSD: 64GB Corsair Performance. x 2
RAM: 2x2GB OZD black edition 1600 Mhz
CPU Cooler: Corsair H70
PSU: COOLERMASTER Silent Pro M1000
Cabinet: Coolermaster CM 690 II Advanced.

Since the colorscheme is going to be red, i wanted to update my rams, but i dont know anything about rams at all.

Would this set fit my current setup: 8GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-10666 1333MHz Ripjaw Series CL9 (9-9-9-24) Dual Channel kit

And im really new into this watercooling stuff, and im not to sure how this would fit together: https://www.aquatuning.de/shopping_c...50f94c8d1233ea ( Can change the language to english in top right corner )

Since the GPU is from XFX i havent been able to get a confirm on which of the coolingheads i should be using for it, people have tried looking but cant get a print on the thing, anyone know which cooling head fits XFX Radeon HD 5870 ?

Re: New Ram and questions concerning watercooling ?

Maybe you will have better luck with the G-Skill.... I went through 2 sets of RMA before I got a refund and bought a set of Corsair XMS. This was in my AMD system in my specs. <<<

Re: New Ram and questions concerning watercooling ?

Just be aware you would be downgrading from 1600Mhz to 1333mhz ram. As far as GSkill, I've used in three or four builds and never had issues with them.

Re: New Ram and questions concerning watercooling ?

Seems those that have had problems are using G-Skill with AMD systems......

Hey! I've used GSkill with AMD...one time...and it worked...

...point duly taken. They do have a lifetime warranty and excellent CS on all ram, so if you do have any problems, you will be taken care of.

Re: New Ram and questions concerning watercooling ?

Not sure what G-Skill or AMD you had.... My situation was specifically with the new Ripjaws and an AM3 board....... right around the same time frame the review section at the Egg lit up with others having the same. I don't hate the stuff, just seeing a guy with similar gear as mine and I'm giving a heads up. Maybe he will have better luck.

Oh, the Corsair that I bought instead....... I've got 2 more sets since then and all working great in Various AM3 boards. So that's 3 for three...... (8g 4X2g @ 1333, 4g 2X2g @ 1333, and 8g 2X4g @ 1600)

But, sadly it doesn't come in red.

Re: New Ram and questions concerning watercooling ?

It does, in fact.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR DOMINATOR GT 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMT4GX3M2A1866C9

Given, it's not 1600, but a good number of their higher clocked DDR3 modules are red instead of blue

And of course, advice and fair warning is always good :P I was just giving my experience. And I've never had issues with Corsair, either.

Re: New Ram and questions concerning watercooling ?

Given that FragMonsteR is in Denmark, my advice would be to stick with either Corsair or G.Skill, but personally I'd stick with Corsair... specifically the XMS3 or AMD/Phenom specd Dominator line (they have green tops to them). Having bought and sold both makers RAM, Corsairs has been the most reliable. I have G.Skill personally in all my systems, but I've been lucky on that front. Of their stuff I've sold through my store I've had troubles with at least 1/3 of the kits. Corsairs XMS3.. not a one. Dominator line.. maybe 1 pair out of 10.

Why? Well both companies RMA through the Netherlands, and both have the same lifetime warranty on their RAM, so the are even on that front, but a friend of mine told me Corsair direct is much more easier to deal with than G.Skill.

However, the big difference is which seller to buy from. Some will do RMAs for you, and some are horrible to deal with. Thing to do is ask the reseller what their policy is on buying RAM from them. Will they do the RMA? Will they do an on-the-spot RMA? That sort of thing.

Would these work ?

Corsair 8GB DDR3 1866MHz (4x2)Dominator CMT8GX3M4A1866C9 | Billig

Because the thing is, id prefer the rams to be red, since thats the colorscheme im going for....

Re: New Ram and questions concerning watercooling ?

it would.. but you would have to get a 64bit OS.
Looking at your specs, you don't currently got one.

He wouldn't have to get a 64 bit OS to actually get the computer to function. He would just max out at 4gb (er, isn't it actually like 3.2 or something like that) that Win x86 can use.

@OP: Yes, those modules should work fine, but if you want full use of them, you'll need to install a 64 bit OS.

ok.. in ur specs on that side <-----
it says you use windows 7 x86

that's what I meant synthesis, but getting 8gb on a x86 is such a waste.

Your specs say "Windows 7 x86" ...... That's 32bit.

Just an error in his specs, then.

Yes, OP, those modules should work fine. Make sure to post pics when you're done

and Nesh, that's what I figured, but I've seen worse (12gb on 7 x86. sigh).
