Are these types of add-on cards likely to hit the market this year... or at all? I need 1394b FireWire support, and I want to get USB3 support somewhat soon, and I'd rather only use one PCI-Express slot (and pay only one time). Can't find anything on these two being put on a single card yet, though.

Re: USB 3/1394b PCIe?
I don't think it's likely you'll see USB3 coupled with Firewire any time soon, if at all. I don't know about 1394b being available as a PCI-E card but USB3 is widely available now.

Re: USB 3/1394b PCIe?
1349B is available on a PCI-e card, sometimes paired with the A variant. Somebody is likely to make a USB3/1394B card, but I haven't seen one yet.

Re: USB 3/1394b PCIe?
I've yet to see anything that pairs USB3 with Firewire, and I doubt there will ever be such a card seeing as how the new "it" thing is going to be Thunderbolt. If anything you'll see cards come out that support USB3 and Thunderbolt. You never know though.
The only sure fire way to get both USB3 and Firewire right now, in one shot, and at one price, would be to replace the motherboard with one that has both. Not the best option for you given your specs, and seeing as how you'd be looking at replacing a lot more than just the board. BTW, if you do consider getting a USB3 card look at the PCIe 4x card from Asus, the U3S6. You can use this in your spare PCIe 16x slot (that is if it's available), and it will outperform any PCIe 1x cards.

Re: USB 3/1394b PCIe?
No interest in Thunderbolt. I need 1394b because a friend has an external drive with only that connector, and it's the only way we can transfer between each other. Thank you for the PCIe4x suggestion, I'll certainly keep that in mind when I get a USB3 card.
