Edit by V3:
Drowningshrimp needs recomendations and opinions from you guys on the best keyboards and mice of the moment. The thread that started it was our Aivia M8600 review... so fire away with your thoughts on what's hot and what's not... |

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
What's the budget like for the mouse & keyboard?
Evidently, as you're taking into consideration the M8600 the budget isn't low but do you have a maximum price range for both keyboard and mouse? Also, is it particularly wireless mice you're interested in?

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
Yes, I would like a wireless mouse if at all possible, and my price range is up to $110 and same for a keyboard. I also play at night a lot so a backlit keyboard would be very helpful.

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
For a mouse I'd definitely say a Razer Deathadder. For a keyboard the Logitech G15 2nd generation is really good (I used to have one) if you can spend that little extra. They`re going from $59.99 used on Amazon.

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
Sorry if it was confusing but I meant that I have a budget of $110 on a mouse and $110 on a keyboard, so $220 total.
What do you have now if you used to have a Logitech g15? Also, would you reccomend any wireless mice? Thanks. |

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
Nope, I wouldn't recommend any wireless mice as I hate the having to stop gaming to recharge them.
I'm using a laptop now so don't have a keyboard, will be building a new gaming rig soon and with that I intend to get the Razer Arctosa but that doesn't have any backlit keys so I would still recommend the G15. An excellent keyboard for the money.

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
I remembered a battery free wireless mouse, but there doesn't seem to be that much choice of them, and the dedicated pad is rather small - some tablets also have a pen and mouse option.
Not many gaming mice are wireless - out of Razer's range, it seems only the mobile and this beast are: Buy Razer Naga Epic MMO Gaming Mouse | Official Razer? Store How the heck do you know which thumb button you're trying to press?

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
personally... after buying a mechanical keyboard.... i would never use anything else so long as i can help it....
with that in mind, i recommend the Razer Black Widow as it meets your requirements... Newegg.com - RAZER Black USB Wired BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard the only downside is that it doesnt have the full N-key Rollover like gaming grade PS/2 keyboards if you want no frills performance, the Steelseries 6Gv2 and 7G have anti-ghosting for as many keys there are on the board vs the meager 6 on the Razer.

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
Those are all very good suggestions, But I really need a back-lit keyboard.
As for the mouse, i have decided to either get the Razer Mamba or the Gigabyte M8600. Thanks. |

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
I'm going to assume that you're not a fan of the design of the RAT 9, despite its customisation capabilities. If I were you I'd go for the M8600 because you seem to be after a wireless mouse and I'd say that it has the specs. The Mamba is not really justified price-wise. Yes, it's rated highly by many of the people that own one but if you look at its features compared to the M8600 and RAT 9 it just seems to be lacking and also a bit over the top as far as presentation is concerned.
As for the keyboard I personally use the Logitech G11 as I didn't have a need for the LCD screen on the G15. Have a look at the two of those (both backlit with many decent features and very comfortable) and see what you think.

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
Sorry, i got confused if he was talking about the regular or the ultimate edition, but now i know. I ordered the Blackwidow ultimate from Amazon for $100.
I am still going to wait till the Gigabyte m8600 comes out. If you have any information on the Gigabyte M8600 please share it. Thanks~ Last edited by Drowningshrimp; Apr 3, 2011 at 04:21 AM. Reason: Spelling |

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
Call me logical but wouldn't it be easier to ask V3 anything you want to about the M8600 in this very thread, considering he did a review on it?

Re: Need a new keyboard and Mouse
V3 is one of HH's Admins. They (as in HH admins) usually get review samples from the company involved well before they are released.
Besides Stuart "Veridian3" Davidson is also one of the editors (Who Edited the review of the mouse).. Thats why Takahuru said what he did above. Last edited by MIG-31; Apr 3, 2011 at 04:45 PM. |
