Optical Drives

Guys I scanned my computer to see exactly what's in it and for my DVD Drive (Optical) it says I've got a TSSTcorp CDDVDRW.

Does anyone know what is that? What speed is it? Does it matter? Should I get a new one, if so what's the best DVD Drives available at the moment?

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time out to answer.

Re: Optical Drives

TSST is Toshiba-Samsung, they make optical drives together. I don't know about the speed since you didn't name the exact model, but if it's not giving you headache, I see no reason not to keep it. If you're really curious about particulars, you can try the free Nero Info Tool.

Re: Optical Drives

If you've got your heart set on replacing your optical drive you're pretty safe as long as you go for a well-known brand: Sony, LG and Samsung are the most frequent drives to come across.
Unless you're paying highstreet prices you're looking in the sub-£20 region for the dog's bananas - 24x DVD-RW, dual-layer with lightscribe (excluding Blu-Ray discs).

However, as IvanV said, unless you're unsatisfied with your disc drive or you can't use it any more then there's really no reason to change.
