Re: What is modular
Modular Power Supply Unit, or "MPS", is the term used to describe a type of computer power supply in which the user can modify the power connectors to suit their personal needs. In a "Modular Power Supply", there are detachable power connectors that can be changed depending on what amount of power or type of connector that a component requires.

Re: What is modular
With a standard PSU, all of the cables are soldered directly to the PSU.
With MODULAR PSUs, the cables are removable, and you only use the ones you actually need, That helps keep the inside of the case less cluttered, and helps with cable management, making it easier to route the cables. MOST modular PSUs still have the 24-pin and 8-pin CPU cables hard wired to the PSU like the HX series Corsairs: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more! FEWER have ALL of the cabling removable like the AX series: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
