crashing pc
hi guys.
so i finely finished my build about 3 week ago, and at first it was running fine. But lately it's been freezing a lot, i have tried running stress tests on the gpu, mems and cpu and they all pass with no error, i have tried re-installing a clean gpu drive with drivecleaner and it still freezes, some time it happens right when i get into the game and some time it happens after hour of play. Anyone got any idea whats going on. ![]() edit: i used aida64 and a g15 to monitor tepms while gaming and it got up to cpu:45 Celsius and gpu: 69 celsius at the moment of the last crash. Re: crashing pc
when the system crashes, do you get a BSOD?
does the system hang for abnormally long periods of time for no reason? usually when a system hangs and stops responding, the hard drive or a related control system for it probably is beginning to fail i cannot think of any good or simple utility to test HDDs but it may be worth a check to see if another drive would fix the problem. ive even had HDDs make the computer not boot into windows and just hang at the motherboard start up logo.... took me awhile to figure that out... RAM can also cause a system to behave strangely, but you said you tested that.

Re: crashing pc
A clean install of windows may be in your future but if you can get into windows and set it so it doesn't reboot instantly after a BSOD the code could give some clues to what is going on. If it's a simple fix you may not have to re-install.

Re: crashing pc
Unfortunately(if you can say that) it doesn't go in to BSOD i would have mentioned that, it only freezes at random times, and sometime it i can play for hours without freezing.

Re: crashing pc
So, it's not re-booting on it's own, only freezing? Have you tried a new hard drive cable and/or a different SATA port?

Since you tried a different port, try a new cable. I had an ongoing problem with that on my old MB. The SATA cables weren't the 'lock on' type, and they would, after a time due to the vibration, as little as it was, back off the port JUST enough to cause me to not boot, or freeze at some random time after booting. Royal PITA.

Re: crashing pc
Could it be possible that a defragg f***** up my pc, last night i played for about an hour and 45 min on a fresh install of windows with no crashing, which is more the usual, i put it to defragg for about an hour and stopped it at about 45% to finish the rest today, but before doing so i tested my pc again an it didn't last more the 45 min.

What does this do?

Re: crashing pc
I notice that you're using 32 bit Windows with a 2GB graphics card. Is it possible that having more video memory available than system memory is causing the issue?
Normally both Nvidia and ATI recommend having more system memory than video memory.

Re: crashing pc

Could it be reason for the cash. Last edited by mirza001; Apr 11, 2011 at 05:50 PM. |
