I have Speed fan 4.42 and it shows the temps of my core 1 to be 64c core 2 to be 58 core 3 on 60 and 4 0n 62. And guys its an ideal temperature! I am surfing net for half an hour and I have not played games yet. I always have to increase my cpu fan's speed to 100% to make cpu a little cool. My cpu usage during writting this is 19%. I am on stock cooler.

Re: Is my CPU overheating?
Remove the cooler, re-apply fresh paste and make sure the cooler is seated properly. Check and make sure there are no airflow restrictions blocking air from the cooler too.

Re: Is my CPU overheating?
My room temperature is hovering around 25c. There is no AC in my room only a rooftop fan. The thermal paste is there. Cooler is also fitted and working well. And the temp of my ICH is about 70c and I have turned on my pc about 15 minutes ao and after playing games it reaches to 85c....that is too much.

Re: Is my CPU overheating?
Yes it is..... When I mentioned the paste, I was meaning you redo it...... It happens that there's not a proper spread sometimes. Also, how old is it? Some thermal compounds age..... By redoing it you also are sure the cooler IS actually secured properly... Intel coolers are the worst for being "off" on one corner.
I'm not saying that if you remember doing it, it's okay.

Re: Is my CPU overheating?
How many case fans are you running? The case fans in my case make a significant difference to temps. The rear exhaust fan especially makes a massive difference to my CPU temps. It was 25°c in my room yesterday but my CPU was still running around 40°c even with a significant overclock.
edit - just looked at your specs and it says you're running 7 140mm fans so I guess that's not it! You could do a thorough system clean. Dust of all fans, heatsinks and filters. Do some work on cable management to improve the flow of air in your case. Consider a new CPU cooler. I'm using an Arctic Cooling Freeze Pro which is pretty cheap, about £17 in the UK and performs well. It's also pretty quiet. |

Re: Is my CPU overheating?
I don't know.... It's running hot, maybe that's the cause, maybe it's not. We are trying to help and that's one of the things to check. If you don't want to check the paste and assume it's okay, then I guess it's okay.

Re: Is my CPU overheating?
I suppose you had the stock cooler. The stock cooler is a very bad one and it stops working well in a short time.
About a cpu cooler, well, if you can find one for that price, I would recommend an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. I think it's one of the best in price/performance ratio. |

Re: Is my CPU overheating?
Sometimes... it's rare... but i've come across some cpu's that just run way above normal... above their rated temperatures.. and i find these ones typically can't overclock at all.
it's like the cpu manufacturer put it through it's test.. but somehow missed it and labeled it as a higher end cpu then it should have.... (should have been labeled say a intel i5 rather then it's higherend brother i7, but was labeled an i7 and setup for those clocks even though it ran above what it should) that's just a theory.... but.... an example of which was a AMD x2 4400+ that i had got my hands on.. it averaged about 60*C reguardless of the cooling i applied to it.... didn't matter... it ran hot.. and under load.. it would break the 90*C ceiling.. Even though the model and everything clearly shows it as a 4400+... i set it to 3800+ speeds and the temperature took a massive plunge down to the 35-40*C and under load only reached about 55*C give or take.. Now typically... even if you overclock a 3800+ using the same voltage to 4400+ speeds.. you'd experience usually one of 2 things.... either a BSOD/Crash/no boot.. or a slight increase in temperature.... at least with my experience.. Now i don't know if this sudden jump in temperature is what it is.... sudden.... or if it's been like this the whole time.... but i also know sometimes before a cpu decided to pack it in and call it quits..... they sometimes start to burn up like that..... get hot for no apparent reason. I'd also recommend a AC Freezer 7 pro... they are utterly amazing...

Re: Is my CPU overheating?
Also, sometimes, the motherboard gives a huge amount of voltage that makes the card overheat, like one I had that gave 1.35V to a core2 duo E6300. Using the stock cooler, it just couldn't handle it.
Could you check your Vcore in bios? |
