USB Mouse spazzing out
Hey,
So I've had this problem for a while now and I had it fixed until one of my recent reformats, but my USB mouse (Gigabyte GM-M6800) has this strange issue where the cursor will randomly start twitching and move on it's own very slightly. I had fixed it before I think by installing some special USB mouse drivers (not the ones provided by Gigabyte) and it seemed to be fine then. But the problem now is that I can't find these drivers and it's really annoying when trying to do pretty much anything on my computer. I'm looking for a way to stop the frequent spazzes and use this mouse as it's actually pretty good if it didn't twitch. If there are no quick fixes in driver installs or any other windows 7 tweak then I may get a death adder or something but I didn't want to if I can make this work. |

Clean it. There is dust or hair near the sensors.

Re: USB Mouse spazzing out
Thanks but that was the first thing I tried, and I try it a lot.

Re: USB Mouse spazzing out
Well, if software or dirt are not the issue, try whatever makes sense. Check the mousepad, perhaps replace it to see if it is at fault. Hit the mouse on the side. Plug unplug the mouse, if needed on a different slot.
In the end, of course, the mouse might be just broken. ![]() Oh yeah, one more thing. Make sure there isn't a mobille phone near the cable of the mouse at any point. I know I have problems when I place my phone closer than 15cm to it at any point.

Re: USB Mouse spazzing out
the 'Gigabyte' mouse drivers I downloaded didn't do anything, but I'm wondering if there's some universal USB mouse driver that will fix this problem.
I've tried a different mouse pad, changing USB slots, unplugging it, and there aren't any phones nearby. It's at least a year old now and I think it's been doing it since a little after I bought it and wasn't using the special drivers. I hate buying a new mouse every year, I didn't think this thing would be such poor quality. |

Re: USB Mouse spazzing out
I had the same problem and solved it by using a white piece of paper for my mouse pad. I was using it on a wood grain surface and it constantly spazzed out. I have not had the skipping around since moving to the white paper. I'm guessing it would work with any solid color.

As well, try plugging the mouse in the top most USB ports by itself, and other USB devices in the other ports. Usually the top 4 ports are dedicated ports (2 hubs) while the others share their power with whatever is connected to the internal headers. The idea is to isolate it, and give it all the power each hub allots. Another would be to disconnect all other USB devices except the mouse (if you're keyboard is USB, then you'll need that too) to make sure you aren't getting any other devices intereferring with it. |

Re: USB Mouse spazzing out
Have you tried plugging the USB mouse into a PS2 port? The adapters are notoriously easy to find nowadays if you don't have one.
