Looking For Small Profile Heatsink
Ok, I've been wanting to upgrade my memory for quite awhile now, but in order to do so I need to replace my current heatsink and fan. They are a Thermalright 120 Ultra with a 120x35mm fan. The fan currently covers two of the memory slots. The memory I'm looking at to replace my current memory is G.Skill PI 6GB (3x2048) DDR31600. So I'm looking for a small profile heatsink and fan the would allow to install this memory. I would like to get somewhere to the same cooling that I'm currently getting with my Thermalright heatsink. My current motherboard is a Foxconn Bloodrage GTI.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Take a look at this one. Noctua NH-C14 CPU Cooler Review
Just don't install the fan below the heatsink. |

What a coincidence, I was looking at that same heatsink about an hour ago.

Re: Looking For Small Profile Heatsink
At that price level, why not take a look at the Corsair H60?
Newegg.com - CORSAIR CWCH60 Hydro Series H60 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler Or H70? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-013-_-Product I'm using an H60 on my new build, replacing my old Koolance Exos. It's doing just as well as the Koolance did. I've been water cooling for so long that every time I see one of those huge HSF's it just amazes me that they don't just rip themselves out of the MB ![]() Not to mention how much room they take up inside a case.

Re: Looking For Small Profile Heatsink
Agree with OldB. The Corsair H50, H60, and H70 take up (relatively) much less room and can perform as well/better than the gigantic monster heatsinks.

Re: Looking For Small Profile Heatsink
Coincidentally, there was a thread recently where a member complained (among other things) that that particular Noctua was so big that it blocked his first PCI-E slot no matter how he turned it. Now, his board had more slots than yours, so it probably wouldn't be a problem for you, but again you've got a large northbridge heatsink and the cooler also tends to go above nearest memory slots, meaning potential trouble with tall RAM sticks, so it's probably best to get something else.
