good mousepad for fps games ? =)

i want to buy a new mousepad. I use Logitech g700, microsoft arc, have the r.a.t 7 but will sell it and will maybe get g9x or mionix naos 5000. I only play FPS games. I think iam a claw user =)

i have the zowie shift mouse pad, really love the hard surface, it seems unbreakable, and love the shape. Tested the razer destructor, i aim better with it, guess i get better control, but dont like the shape of it.

so what to buy ? any rec ?
i have heard good things about:
Steelseries SX, Razer Scarab, Razer ironclad, Mionix PROPUS 380, can anyone say a few words about them ? or compare them to each other or with Zowie shift or Destructor ?

The best mousepad I have ever used so far is my Steelseries S&S Steel. It's thin but hard and big enough where it counts and it hasn't let me down yet.
For mouse I have tried several ones on it and they all play excellent on this surface. Currently using a Logitech G9.
Also, welcome to Hardware Heaven.

Re: good mousepad for fps games ? =)

problem i've found with mouse pads is that just occasionally certain mouses just dont work on certain pads.
i had some random steelseries one that was great with my old WolfKing, but when i switched to my current Sharkoon it just didn't track properly. in fact none of the cloth or even vaguely flexible mats i tried worked properly.
eventually got myself a Cyber Snipa Tracer which works perfectly with this mouse, and as it turns out is easily my favourite mouse pad that i've owned thus far

^ long winded way of saying; buy a quality mat that you like the look of, and if it works well with your mouse then (when the likes of the SteelSeries one you mentioned) you can't really go far wrong

Re: good mousepad for fps games ? =)

I like glass as a material for mousepads, but it seems to have fallen out of fashion. Granted, many glass pads were very noisy but my six year old Corepad is not. Unfortunately even Corepad doesn't use glass anymore it seems. I'd give whichever glass pad I could find a try if this one would break some day. Or maybe metal.
