Which ADSL Router ??
ok guys, need a new router (on ADSL, so it has to be one of the 'modem/router' ones)
i'm slightly clueless tbh, as i've only ever bought one router many years ago, and since then been gifted them, so i don't really know where to start 'N' is obviously a must, Gigabit LAN would be a definite plus, but other than that I'm at your mercy ![]() budget is...... sensible please. don't want to spend £100+, but i'll spend enough if it gets me the right one ![]() ta much |

Re: Which ADSL Router ??
I use the one supplied by my ISP so not much help there....... It works, but nothing fancy. I'll be watching to see what gets suggested here.

Re: Which ADSL Router ??
I am in the same situation, need a good ADSL router.
Unfortunately, in my country I dont have too many choices, so probably it will be some cheap TP-link, but few of my friends say TP-link works very well. We will see very soon

Re: Which ADSL Router ??
The price (on a quick google) and capabilities of that Buffalo seem pretty good
First Gigabit one I found at Ebuyer Cisco Linksys WAG320N Wireless-N Dual-band Gigabit.. | Ebuyer.com Dearer, but dual band, and 5GHz can be a real plus if your locale is saturated with 2.4GHz traffic Of course, also need to use dual band adapters to benefit. Cisco Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N300 USB Adapter | Ebuyer.com It is NOT simultaneous dual band, so to run at 5GHz, ALL wireless connected equipment needs 5GHz capability, unless you use another access point for 2.4G coverage Belkin F7D4401uk Play Max ADSL2+ Dual-Band Wireless-N Router (300Mbps) The Belkin Playmax is one of a few that are Gigabit AND concurrent dual band

![]() well given that it's fairly inevitable that there's always gonna be something in the house that runs 2.4, i think i'm probably as well going for that Buffalo that i found (seeing it at just over 50), ya think ? i just don't fancy dropping 100+ quid on a router atm, not after just leaving 550 with my mechanic today

Re: Which ADSL Router ??
From my experience it is best to get a Modem and a very good Router separately. Set the supplied modem/router from your ISP to bridge mode and set your router up to link to the modem (PPPoE in my case) that way in the future if you change ISP's to say cable or another type of service you can keep your current router. (No changing passwords etc).

Re: Which ADSL Router ??
The playmax & 1 or 2 others do offer simultaneous dual band, then it doesn't matter if the adapters are not.
While there are dual band routers a shade under the £100 mark, it's pointless unless you also run at least one 5GHz adapter If you already have decent coverage on "G", then it should be better still on N300 (thanks to MiMo antenna diversity), even without going dual band.

Re: Which ADSL Router ??
If I was buying one today I would get this: Netgear DGND3700 N600 Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N ADSL2+ & Fibre Broadband Router w/ USB ReadySHARE Port (600Mbps)
Bit over your price but the top end Netgears always serve me well. |
