Re: Plz Help Me( System reboots )

What are the details for your PSU? What brand is it and how old is it.

Also what exactly happens when your system reboots. Is it a random event or does it tend to happen at certain times?

Re: Plz Help Me( System reboots )

the DX58OG motherboard can use any ATX PSU that has been released in the last few years, but it sounds like the PSU or the motherboard is about to fail.

as we already know what your mainboard is, i am going to need to know what your Graphics card is and your CPU.

regardless of the PSU model, if i have the CPU you have, and your graphics card, i can recommend you a new PSU that can adequately power the system.

Re: Plz Help Me( System reboots )

ahh i did not see the above post which detailed the other two parts, i pretty much have everything i need to know.

the SMPS, you are basically referring to your PSU as a switching power supply i presume?

400 watts SHOULD be enough for that CPU and the low end graphics card but it does sound like you are pushing it.

the i7 and the GT 220 pull something around 200w together at stock settings.

with that, i recommend a quality PSU with 500w or more power output.

can you give me a link to a store you shop at, i can probably search it for a better PSU.

Re: Plz Help Me( System reboots )

the HDD shouldnt be able to cause the system to reboot, the most it can do is cause a blue screen or cause the system to freeze.

i am pretty sure it is the PSU so i would go ahead and replace that. 750w sounds good.

since the system doesnt actually consume 750w, the UPS you have should be fine too.

Kris - can I ask why you recommend such a high wattage for their system? I would've thought a 650W would leave plenty of breathing room, even for dual graphics cards.

he simply said he would probably upgrade to a 750w version so i simply recommended a 750w PSU! though a 650w version would probably be OK, that motherboard is indeed an enthusiast board and if Tabassum put the money into it, he could completely utilize all 750 watts.

as for the PSU, it is an ATX form factor PSU, as long as your case is an ATX standard tower, this PSU should fit fine and power your current and future system hardware!

can you give me the name of your current case/cabinet?

that cabinet does look small, if you feel like buying a new one, i recommend the cooler master 690. it is compatible with the corsair TX750 V2 and all your hardware.

Theitdepot - Cooler Master ATX Mid Tower Cabinet (RC-690-KKN1-GP)

that is the first 690, there is also a 690 II model which is even better, but i dont know where you can buy it. both cabinets are very good and have alot of space.

Haha well I'm sure you'll have no problem affording the 690 case.

There are other good ones you can buy such as the corsair 800D, cooler master HAF X and Antec DF-35. All of them are large tower cabinets that have a lot of airflow.

If you want, just choose a few cabinets you like off that site and we can tell you which one is the best for you!

all these are cabinets that will work well with your system, they are the best at what they do and have different prices.

Theitdepot - Cooler Master ATX Mid Tower Cabinet (RC-690-KKN1-GP)

Theitdepot - Cooler Master HAF X Black ATX Full Tower Computer Cabinet (RC-942-KKN1)

Theitdepot - Corsair Obsidian Series 800D Full-Tower Computer Case With Window (CC800DW)

Theitdepot - Antec DF-85 Black Computer Case

buy a cabinet with the new PSU

Theitdepot - Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W Power Supply (CMPSU-750TXV2)

and that should solve your problems.

i cannot 100% guarantee it will solve your problem but it does sound like this is a PSU issue. whenever i had this problem, it was the PSU's fault.

all your BIOS settings seem normal, nothing out of the ordinary.

when you upgraded your computer, did you keep the same cabinet and PSU from your old one and put it in the new computer?

Ahh I see, well I definitely would use a better case and PSU than that generic no name one in that bulzer cabinet, a good computer deserves a better power supply.

The HDD should be fine unless the system freezes frequently. Sound like its doing ok

Re: Plz Help Me( System reboots )

Yea that is most likely the PSU, sometimes it could be the motherboard but your system is too new for the motherboard to be failing.

Basically your two potential culprits are the PSU and motherboard, and since the system is still new, that leaves the PSU.

I am certain its the PSU that is causing this.

Basically your two potential culprits are the PSU and motherboard, and since the system is still new, that leaves the PSU.

I am certain its the PSU that is causing this.

Re: Plz Help Me( System reboots )

Yeah, random reboots is usually a PSU issue. Especially if it happens when you start taxing the system, the PSU trips out and the system reboots itself. Especially if the PSU is a cheap generic model or a few years old. Of course we cant say 100% that's what your issue is - the only way to know for certain is to swap out components and see if the issue resolves itself.

Get yourself a decent branded PSU. For your current system a 500w supply would be fine but if you plan on upgrading any more components in the future you may want to consider a 600 - 700w. Just realise that just because it has a bigger number in the name doesn't mean it's better. The Corsair builder series are good value PSUs in your area.

Yep that looks plenty generic. Yea it would be best if that was replaced with the TX750 V2
