USB Switch
I have a desktop PC and a MacBook Pro connected to the same monitor. I also have a Logitech Wave wireless keyboard and mouse. Right now I have to switch the USB transmitter between the two depending on the computer I want to use with the keyboard and mouse. I was wondering if there is a USB switch of some kind that I can use instead, something to easily switch between by the push of a button or the flip of a switch.
Does anyone know of something like this?

Re: USB Switch
There are a few KMV switches that have USB....... This would switch Keyboard, Mouse, and Video at the same time. Not sure about Apple compatibility but I'm sure some are.

Re: USB Switch
These are more commonly known as USB KVM switches when spelled correctly

Re: USB Switch
I personally use the Acrox USB Port Sharing Hub (model UH9), a 4 port hub, both at work, and at home. Not too bad, but I have had 1 or 2 clients complain about it, where the switch failed when they hooked up heavy pull USB devices too it, but I haven't had that problem. Ultra also makes one called the ULT31808, a 7 port hub, which I'd recommend over the Acrox. There's the CTG (Cables To Go) 30505, a 2 port switch, and both Startech and Tripp Lite both have one too, but I haven't tried any of them (too expensive).
Word of warning, do NOT grab an Auto USB switch. Every one I've tried has never worked, or has been highly unreliable. |
