(*COMPUTER INFO BOTTOM OF POST*)
hey, first post not really sure where to put it so i chose here but anyway,

I have had a Packard Bell computer for a couple of years now don't really know much about (inside the computer and all the technical shiz) but when i went to buy it I simply asked for a decent computer for gaming they gave me this.

I have posted before about it ( on a different site) and was getting told that my RAM and and processor was generally decent, but my graphics card was simply...crap. i play WoW mostly and i cant even have that on full graphics and now i really wanna play other games on steam like TF2 etc but i jus cant and im fed up of it, so please if anyone can help simply tell me what i need to do so i can run games on ultra smooth fps

thanks.

*Computer Information Below*

Re: ! Computer help pls ! :(

First, welcome to HH.

OK, you are using the onboard graphics, which are pretty sad.

All you will need to do is purchase and install a video card.

So, first decide how much money you can afford to spend for a new card, and what other games you wish to play.

Once that is settled, then we can point you to a couple of options.

Also, let us know what country you are in.

Re: ! Computer help pls ! :(

Hmmm... might not be that simple.

I would suggest going for a GTX460 or maybe a GTX550. You should be able to get the 550 for around £95. First check that you have a PCIe x16 slot on your motherboard. If you could find out what your motherboard is that would be helpful. This would get you a mid-range DX11 card that should be more than adequate for the games you have listed. You have a good CPU and your memory should be fine.

Now the bad thing - it's likely you would need to also upgrade your PSU as from what I can find your system has a cheap 250w PSU as standard.

Yeah, I forgot about the PSU.

On the ATI/AMD side, an HD 6770 would fill the bill as well.

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE DIRT3 Game [11189-00-20G ]

Re: ! Computer help pls ! :(

For your system with a GTX550 added I would recommend something along these specifications...

Corsair CMPSU-430CX 430W Power Supply - CMPSU-430CX - CCL Computers

I don't have personal experience with these PSUs but reviews and specs look pretty decent.

Re: ! Computer help pls ! :(

Jac is spot on with the PSU choice. Corsair's reputation for high quality PSUs is impeccable.

However, when looking for a CX Series PSU from Corsair, make sure that you get one of the v2s.

Not that there is anything wrong with the originals. It's just the the v2s are a bit better, and more efficient.

It would be fine for either of the vid cards suggested so far.

I was unaware there were 2 versions. What's the difference?

Ah, you've already stated. I'll read better next time

Re: ! Computer help pls ! :(

Have a look at your documentation to see if there is anything there. Otherwise the best way would be to just open the case and have a look. There should be a make and model written on it somewhere.

Did bit of searching on Google, and it appears that your MB is an ECS Denver 11.
