HD Playback
My "new" netbook has a built-in HD4225 card, which is apparently sufficient to play HD content. It even has an HDMI output.
However, whenever I go to play a YouTube video at 720p the video sutters along, battery or mains. The same video at 360 is fine. I'm not expecting the world from this grasphics card, being a netbook and all and I'm not likely to use the HDMI output but surely HD playback shouldn't be that bad. I've installed the latest version of the mobility drivers and, for the record, I'm not bothered enough about HD playback to overclock. Any suggestions? I've yet to try an MKV. System spec I have since upgraded to 4GB 1066MHz and a 500GB Momentus XT. The issue above applied before & after the upgrade.

Re: HD Playback
when it comes to youtube videos which generally are more reliant on different standards and high CPU usage at higher definition......... don't expect to much.
With though the HD5xxx i've got in this one machine has the power to chew through HD content no problemo..... when it comes to flash video.... 480 even kills it due to the terrible CPU. Hardware acceleration is a bit of a joke. Now if you were to playback a Blu-ray or Hardware Accelerated support format that the cards are fully capabable of driving... i'm sure 1080p content would play flawlessly..

Re: HD Playback
Have you installed the latest version of flash? If not, do it. If you have then right click the YT vids and try with acceleration on and off. See which is best for you, also try a couple of different browsers.

Re: HD Playback
Judas - you're right, it was just YouTube. I tried a 1080p MKV and it's an acceptable frame rate.
Veridian - legend. I installed Flash 11 and tried a 720p. It's about 95% lag-less. I tested it it in full-screen for sanity's sake. That was IE9. 1080p seems ok too, though slightly more laggy. 1080 is a bit much to ask on a screen res of 1024x900 though.
