wtf is these new chipsets about ?? is it attempt to reduce the cost of computers whilst increasing the performance ??

Yeah it's definitely not for everyone, only covers the need for about 80% of the users.
Reminds me, gotta take a moment to switch out the CPU cooler in mine.

Moving onboard graphics from chipset to CPU, I guess it's a win for things that need them, as CPUs turn around faster than chipsets.

Of course, if you're above the onboard graphics level, then the comparison is more open. having onboard of some kind is still useful if you suspect a graphics card fault and cannot come up with a usable spare.
