Gaming monitor
Alright, I've spent 3 solid days trying to find the best monitor.
My budget is $400 but I am willing to spend more if need be. I pefer nothing smaller than 23" and nothing bigger than 27" and I want vibrant colors and a gorgeous display(no TN panels) Fire away! |

Re: Gaming monitor
You might want to consider +120HZ monitor as well, future proof if you ever wanted to play 3D.

Re: Gaming monitor
EDIT: ok, I was very wrong about the details (memory not my best attribute), but it looks like a great monitor and I would buy it if I could.
BenQ EW2730 27" Here is an unboxing of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Olze2vpTnmE

Re: Gaming monitor
120Hz and non-TN do not go hand in hand at this time...
practically all 120hz monitors are TN based and according to some, appear washed out in early models... the least expensive IPS based monitors come from LG as they are the IPS OEM. Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Monitors, LCD Monitors, LG ELECTRONICS,ips sadly, they only come at around 23" and less for LG.

Re: Gaming monitor
I know I'm not the most classified person to give advice (tech stuff), but i've been "drooling" over the Alienware AW2310, and it seems to be a really good (best in my personal opinion) screen that does 3D.
Of course, don't take my words for granted

Re: Gaming monitor
why not a TN panel..
i've been diving into numerous panels.. and at this point in time.. the only reason a TN panel isn't exactly a great idea is if your going to be sitting at relatively very poor angels (looking down at it or above at it... side to side is amazing now) For example Asus's 27" Monitor VE278 LED backlit monitor is pretty damn amazing for it's price. While i'm fairly certain it's a TN panel, the quality is great. Comparing it to the likes of a Dell 3007WFP or newer model Dell 24" that i recently had.... image quality and color reproduction is spot on. Top it all off on the fact that color is indeed adjustable as well as brightness. Saturation is perfect, and it's indeed a true 1080p monitor. The nice fact about it though, it comes with Display port, HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs as well as for some people that might like it (personally never use it) is the speakers that are built into it. The 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio is well more of a marketing gimmick.. .but it's indeed damn bright and the blacks are pretty solid. All i'm saying is that TN panels are by todays standards worth considering still.... I just know that last time i priced out a higher quality panel at even just a 24" ... the cost of it was through the roof.. and tracking them down is even harder.

Re: Gaming monitor
Here are a few I looked up recently:
LG Cinema 3D - 3D monitor without the battery-powered glasses. You can view films at home with the same 3D glasses that you use in the cinema. LG IPS - With a 5ms response time on an IPS screen, you'll get a pretty dang decent visual experience. LG LED - If IPS isn't your thing, try this ultra-slim 2ms screen. 5m:1 contrast ratio. Listed in order of recommendation.
