Corsair Professional Series HX750
Hello all, I'm out for an opinion here.
I'm in the market for buying a new PSU, since the one I have in my PC now is, for the lack of a better word, junk. I'm really interested in Corsair right now, seeing as I've heard great things involving quality from them. I was looking into the GS series which are the gaming series or the TX series. Now, I've never had a modular PSU before but am really wanting to lean towards getting one. Could anyone provide any information on if modular PSU's are really worth the money? The TX750W and the GS700W are both 109.99 on New Egg at the moment and the HX750W is 149.99. I guess my question is, is the modular design plus other features worth the 40 bucks? Here are the links to the 3 PSU's I was looking at. CORSAIR Gaming Series GS700 CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 CORSAIR Professional Series HX750 Here are my system specs: - ASUS P6X58D Premium Motherboard - 2x2GB G.Skill Ripjaw Series DDR3 1600 RAM - Intel Core i7 920 Bloomfield - Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6870 w/ Vapor-X Technology - Western Digital 650GB HDD 7200 RPM - Samsung 22x DVD Writer I'm leaning to the HX700, being my first modular PSU. What I'm really asking is, is the quality and performance worth the extra money from that PSU over the other two? Which would you buy regarding this particular case? |

Re: Corsair Professional Series HX750
It's a bit complicated to justify the ~40% price increase from the TX2 to the HX. Both are of very good quality, electrical performance is comparable, but the HX will barely come out on top almost every time. So if you don't really need a modular PSU, the TX2 will work just as well.
Now, if you add the AX750 to the mix, then I will always recommend the AX since it's a so much quieter PSU. 100% modular cables aren't really that great, but the electrical performance of the AX series is even better then the HX. The AX would be about 169.99 with that -10% promo code, maybe this is a viable option while the code lasts. Also it's 149.99 after rebate, if you like that kind of thing. Newegg.com - CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX750 (CMPSU-750AX) 750W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply Also there is another TX750M, that has a few modular cables (it's a slightly modular version of the TX750 V2, or how I like to call it the TX2), but not a lot of them, that's now 129.99. Not really worth it in my opinion since not enough of the cables are modular, but everyone's build is different. Re: Corsair Professional Series HX750
Thank you very much for the reply. c:
Since I just realized I was running out of time on the sale NewEgg was providing, I decided to order the HX750. I appreciate the reply though and am looking forward to my first modular PSU. I've also heard great things about the AX series, but completely forgot to look into that. Although I think I'll be just fine with the HX750, I almost wish I wasn't such a dunce and had forgotten to look up the AX series, lol. I'll let you know how the HX750 works out though if you're interested in hearing back about the product. |

Re: Corsair Professional Series HX750
No worries, the HX is a very good power supply. Enjoy.
