Hey people,
I'm looking into buying a PSU, and have got it down to these two. 1) The Ultra X4 Ultra X4 1050-Watt Modular Power Supply - 135mm Fan, ATX, Lifetime Warranty w/ Registration, 80+ Silver, NVIDIA SLI & ATI Crossfire Certifications, Vibration Dampener Included at TigerDirect.com 2) The Corsair HX Corsair CMPSU-1050HX Professional Series Modular Power Supply - 1050W, 80 Plus Silver, SLI Ready, Active PFC, Single +12V Rail at TigerDirect.com Both meet all the requirements I need and am looking for. Just want to know what you all think. |

Re: The Better 1050 PSU (Corsair HX vs. Ultra X4)
The Corsair - it's got more amps on every rail (except 5V, which is the same).

What does this do?

20+4 pin works fine in a 24 pin board or a 20 pin board - that's the point.

20 + 4 = ?
Anyone? Sorry, too tempting. All modern PSUs (as far as I'm aware) have 20+4 pins for the main motherboard power connector to ensure backwards-compatibilty.

Re: The Better 1050 PSU (Corsair HX vs. Ultra X4)
You really got me there, genius. I can add. Because I'm new to this, and my motherboard requires a 24 pin, I assumed there was a connectivity difference between the two. I didn't know 20 and 4 pin connectors could be combined on a 24 pin input.

Re: The Better 1050 PSU (Corsair HX vs. Ultra X4)
I've owned some Ultras and they performed well, but never kept any for long as i upgrade frequently. Just a quick OT note. I loved the cables on their X3s. Flat, black rubber coated from tip-to-tip, easy to bend, unlike corsair's which feel like plastic. Best cabling ever. Sadly they abandoned those in the X4 line. I found the fan to be a little on the loud side too.
I would get the corsair out of those 2. First choice in PSUs for me now. (you hear that yellowbeard?)
