Urgent help needed with SSD Trim on Z68 Smart Response

Hi Guys.

need your help with a question. this is my rig details:
ASRock Z68 fatality1 pro.
Intel SATA controller in RAID mode
1st = Crucial C4 128 Win 7 OS drive
2nd + 3rd =2TB HDD accelerated with Smart response(SRT) using agility3 60GB
16GB DDR3 1600Mhz
CPU - 2600K

the 2 SSD are connected to the Intel 6Gbps Sata ports and the 2TB HD is connected to the 3Gbps port.

I can't seem to find a clear answer on the TRIM issue.

I used the fsutil command set to 0. but still I red that with raid TRIM is not supported, does this mean that my primary C4 isn't being trimed either?

is my cache SSD being trimed??

is there a utility that can present a report on this functionality?

do any of my SSD do self triming without OS suuport?

i need to know if I'm going to break the SRT raid in order to prolong my SSD life time..

thanks
Me972

You are using Win7?
Yeah trim is supported in RAID mode but only if the SSD is not part of RAID volume.

I cant remember off the top of my head with those specific models but you can assume they have their own idle time garbage collection/flash management which will keep the drive running fine even when in RAID mode.

Having said that, the chances of you using the drives enough to wear them out before you are ready for an upgrade is very low. So I wouldnt worry about it, sit back and enjoy your nice responsive PC

You must have the latest 10.6 Intel Rapid Storage Controller Drivers...

otherwise the only driver that is claimed to be 100% support is the default windows 7 Microsoft supplied Storage controller driver for AHCI or RAID modes.

running driver version 10.6.0.1002

what shocks me is the fact that there is no tool to test of verify this feature..

Intel released a toolbox that does just that but it only support its own SSD - Intel made.
haven't found a tool like that from OCZ or Crucial.

Re: Urgent help needed with SSD Trim on Z68 Smart Response

i think the reasoning for that is apparently the controller used in many of the other brand SSDs doesn't actually support trim 100%.... the details aren't clear.. and there is conflicting information about it.

The Sandforce controller is showing that even through generational advances... it doesn't seem to be really covering it all... or it's doing a pretty piss poor job of it.
