I have 4gb 1333 kingston is it worth upgrading to 8gb 1600 its so cheap?

What do you do on your PC?
If you just play games and/or browse the Internet then no, you don't need more than 4GB.

if it's cheap and you feel the wish to burn money.. 8gb is nice to have..

There are currently minor improvements with 8gb vs 4gb even for general use nowadays..

2x4gb modules are always better than say 4x2gb... always..

We already have 2x8gb kits showing up now... so soon you'll be able to jump straight to 16gb..

it's been 15 years .... and we've come full 1024x of what we used to run..

15 years ago in 1996... if you had 32mb of ram... OMFG... it was gauddamn awesome..... even rarely heard of... and if you had 64mb of ram.... you must have been either rich.. lucky.. or just managed to squeeze yourself ABOVE what they would have called top of the line at the time.

it was rare even during 1997 to see machines available with 64mb of ram.... that's when they were just starting to move into DIMMs and away from the SIMMS.

And remember back then... someone with 32mb of ram running the orginal fresh windows 95... was just saleing.. and would take AGES to find something that needed even any significant amount.

better yet... when many things were still tied to the 640kb limits and nothing .. NOTHING was apparently using much more than 4mb of ram with still most things using virtual memory and swap file.... Hell, our video cards/adapters... mostly adapters till for majority were 256kb or 512kb.. and we were just starting to see support 3D acceleration coming to realization....

Our compaq presario .. the first computer my family GOT that wasn't 20+ years old.... in the late spring/early summer of 1997, came with 40mb of SIMM ram.. 8mb of which was ONBOARD.. something compaq was known for.. a pentium 120mhz (underclocked 166mhz because apparently they didn't know how to stick a fan on the cpu heatsink and wanted everything passive and quiet still....) even though the 1.6gb hardrive that was in the machine was holy crap noisy.... poor 8x CD-ROM.... 512kb S3 Trident..... ESS1898 audio... sound blaster capatible.... oh and of course. orginal windows 95..... no 95a or 95b... and not even 95c later...

First time playing games on a computer... was magic carpet or something... and another was Duke Nukem 3D....... oh the days.... later Quake 1 and Doom...

Netscape navigator .... then communicator..... followed by it's abrupt failure and disappearance as IE took over and mozilla rolled in.

IMO.... i just think you can never EVER have to much ram..... even computer 10 years old with 1.5gb of ram can still chug away and work well... i've a pentium III machine.... 350mhz...... with 1.5gb.. (3x 512mb SD-Ram running PC66mhz).... and with a 20gb hardrive and windows xp pro ...... it does exceptionally well.. you won't be watching youtube videos... but you can do just about everything else just fine... without waiting entirely to long.

Seems like a waste of money. I would use the money for other things, have a nice take out and perhaps buy a game. 4-8GB is not worth it for regular stuff.
